i'm in the drow city....i wanna kill deirex the lich thing in the tower so i can not be found out by all the drow (i'm saving mulilating them till lat5er ) but i just can't seem to kill him. he has the perfect protection on that i can see. he's a lich so u need a +3 or higher weapon to hurt him, and he casts protection from magical weaponry...so + anything weaponry can't hurt him...also i can't dispell it as he has spell trap on too...
all my char are about level 15, with viconia at level 19 and 2 mage clerics at level 13/13. minsc is level 16 i think and edwin is level 15. then there imoen trailing behind at level 12 or something.

any tips on killing the bugger would be appriciated..... also the only 2 things i've found hurt him are my abawhatever's horrid wilting and chain lighting...which only hurt him a bit....

liches are reall dangerous after the first few seconds of the encounter, since they've had time to put up protection from magic weapons, protection from energy, protection from extreme cheesyness...

but a improved hasted minsc with azuredge, attacking as soon as you see him, has actually got a good chance of undead blasting him...

a naughty, cheap trick, but it works...

Haste your party, run past him while he is buffing, then summon some skeletal warriors (edwin, viccy) and keep him busy all the time.

True sight will dispel his invisibility and mirror image.

Meanwhile you can throw some axes at him and arrows of dispelling.
When his PFMW wears off run close and whack him with MoD +2. (repeat as needed)

Protect from fire and cold (Fireshield will hurt you).

True Sight, Pierce Magic, Breech, Spell Strike-- Cast anything you have that will make him visible and get rid of his protective spells. As a last resort, do the cowerdly thing and exit the tower and then wait for his spell protections to wear off.

you want cheese? you can't HANDLE cheese!
Okay, maybe you can
Attack with only one char wearing the cloak of cheese and some other necessary buffs (some protections from fear and stun) wielding the MoD+2.
Should be no problem, I sincerely hope you got those two. If not Azuredge or MoD+1 is also worth an effort, you can actually take any weapon as long as you keep your cheesy cloak on and the rest of your party out of sight

damn, im too late. oh well, ill post the ultimate cheese on Deirex anyway:

as soon as you enter the building, pause the game. then choose your whole party and attack him melee. the screen might go black, but youll still hear your guys killing him. eventually hell die, and everything will resume normally. i havent tried this with tactics, but even baldurdash hasnt fixed it(to my knowledge)
