Default item database bug/quirk?

I've been playing around with the items database, re-creating the different weapons and armor from different locations in my (old Pnp) campaign. I had created some items and then deleted some, and now even tho the monsters that had those items no longer have them; when you fight those monsters you get the "no item" item.

Anyone else have this happen?

Did you just delete the items and not change the monster.dat file afterwards?

It's not a bug, but a function of the database system.
If you create an item in db1 and reference it in db2, instances in db2 with that reference callback to db1 instead of copying it (saves a lot of space). So, if the item in db1 is deleted but the db2 callback is still looking for it, it returns a message of 'no item'.

I believe that all 3 databases interact with each other in this way.

not only did I remove the item from the monster, I then deleted the item from the item database as well...

another issue I had was that the area effects (circle, cone, line) cause my version of dungeoncraft to crash when the spell is cast.

do I need a newer version of directX or something???

Does this occur with the spells that come with DC?
I haven't experienced this...but, I have the most recent versions of everything.

No, it's not your computer. Yeah, I have that problem too, but only with a Vault event...Unfortunately I don't know how to fix it.

Because the item was deleted from the items database, there is no way to get it back. If you recreate it, it is another instance of the item, not the same one.
You have to go to each creature or event that has this "no item" and change it.

Tell me about it. It's just something that will have to be done before your release.
