I CAN BACKSTAB WITH QUARTER STAFFS?

ok, for some reason i can backstab with every weapon except missile weapons,
even quarter staffs, is this a bug or what?

my class is a level 12 fighter dual to a thief, level 16

I always wondered why there is no backstabbing with katanas. Any ideas?

Hi d, you should be able to backstab with katanas.

The rule is that you can backstab with any hand-to-hand weapon a single class thief may be proficient in. This includes quarterstaves and katanas. There are a couple of individual exceptions, though; Valygar cannot backstab with his own family katana and a mage/thief cannot backstab with the Staff of the Magi.

Not quite right - you can backstab with any melee bladed weapon that a thief can use. This is why you can't backstab with clubs, either.

Not to disagree with the moderator or anything , but I'm afraid I have to disagree. I'm running a half-orc cleric/thief solo right now and he *does* do backstab damage with his quarterstaff - haven't tested out the club yet, though.

I think Memnoch mean that you're not SUPPOSED to be able to backstab with
non-bladed weapons, as much of the backstab damage happens when you impale organs with a blade.
