ok, for some reason i can backstab with every weapon except missile weapons,
even quarter staffs, is this a bug or what?

yep, that why i said EVERY weapon.

Shouldn't be able to do that. It's a bug.

I always wondered why there is no backstabbing with katanas. Any ideas?

The rule is that you can backstab with any hand-to-hand weapon a single class thief may be proficient in. This includes quarterstaves and katanas. There are a couple of individual exceptions, though; Valygar cannot backstab with his own family katana and a mage/thief cannot backstab with the Staff of the Magi.

Not quite right - you can backstab with any melee bladed weapon that a thief can use. This is why you can't backstab with clubs, either.

Not to disagree with the moderator or anything http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif , but I'm afraid I have to disagree. I'm running a half-orc cleric/thief solo right now and he *does* do backstab damage with his quarterstaff - haven't tested out the club yet, though.

I think Memnoch mean that you're not SUPPOSED to be able to backstab with
non-bladed weapons, as much of the backstab damage happens when you impale organs with a blade.
