Also known as Le Pacte des Loup. An excellent French action film about two mysterious warriors in the 18th century whom come to help a small village rid itself of an equally mysterious monster plaguing the countryside. The fight scenes are great and the use of slow motion has never looked better. The scenery itself is gorgeous, with everything from rolling green hills to dark musty caves. The movie is in French but it has subtitles. They are hardly noticeable after about five minutes of watching. If you like good pre-modern action movies I recommend this movie.

It took so long because Americans don't like subtitles or so I think...I for one though watched the movie and really enjoyed it, After a few minutes the fact that I was reading subtitles didnt even register conciously. I do however think that like all such movies the book will be better..the movie left too much unexplained and Im assuming this was done to keep the run time down. All in all an interesting movie

We just aren't exposed to subtitles very much over here. I personally would much rather watch a film with subtitles than a dubbed film... dubbing totally ruins the atmosphere of a film. I once watched Das Boot... first the dubbed version, then the subtitled version - no comparison - the subtitled version was MUCH better. Same with Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. |
