Post-Kangaxx problem.

So I killed Kangaxx. But not before everyone in my party except Minsc and my party leader got imprisoned. That was seemingly alright since I did have a freedom scroll that brought everyone back. However, only Edwin and Anomen rejoined my party. Mazzy, who I really like, and Jan aren't talking to me.

What gives here?

Is this perhaps some kind of reputation problem or charisma deficiency? I know at times some of the characters in the game such as bartenders and storekeepers don't initiate dialog. But in every case til now I would just wait a day or so and the characters would then talk to me. That is not happening with Mazzy and Jan.

Any suggestions?

The problem with characters not initiating dialogue is IIRC a bug primarily with WinXP installations. And this bug is fixed with the most up to date patch, which you can acquire from bioware.com's support section.

As for why your group members aren't talking with you? I'm not sure, it could be due to the bug, or it could be a whole other bug.

Thanks for the suggestion but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I went to download the patch but since I had already installed ToB, I already had the patch.

You need to install the ToB Official Patch and the ToB Fixpack, not the SoA ones.

Yep, just cuz ToB is there doesn't mean the dialogue issue's been fixed. As I've said before, ALWAYS get the most up to date patches. Not just the patches because of an issue you've noticed. And don't forego the patches for fear of viral problems. 99% of patches come from the companies sites, meaning the chances of viral infection is almost nil.

Thanks for the help. I ended up just going back to a previous save. Fortunately I didn't have to go back far. You are right that I didn't have the ToB patch. But that didn't work either. I suspect maybe that the patch didn't work retroactively.

Wich ToB patch do you have? The Official one or the Baldurdash Fixpack patch?

Even after patching and BaldurDashing, bugs can and will occur. In my last game, I had booted Jan temporarily, but when I went to pick him back up he had nothing to say.
