I've just finished playing through BGII for the third time, and I want to try something different. Last game I played, with an Elven swashbuckler, I didn't kill Big Red until right before I went to Suldenessar. (Yesh, I know, I'm a procrastinator.) The game I'm starting, however, I'm playing a Paladin, and want to get Carsomyr earlier. What would you guys say is an appropriate level range to take him on?

DSlaytern] Just some anti-spoiler measures. Cheers.

You can go kill big red lizard with 8-11 level party but it is very hard. If you are willing to reload,reload,reload...

Before going to pick the Carsomyr, go to the Order of the Radiant Heart.

All you need is to lower his resistances and/or saving throws - then use the one-hit-kill method: i.e. cast finger of death or harm or quivering palm just one of these one hit kills. Harm is particularly effective because it does not care for saving throws or resistances IIRC, yet it requires you to hit fiirkraag on your very first swing with it (and once afterwards anyhow but that shouldn't be the problem).

All you really need is lower resistence and feeblemind, so if you are at least level 10 that should be enough.

actually, i've discovered, that u can kill firkraag just only by 3 chromatic orbs (u can do it to to other dragons).yes!only 3.that needs luck though.it'll work if u cast greater mallison first upon the dragon, then send some chromatic orbs to bring the dragon to its death.i manage to kill firkragg with it with jan jansen by the level of about lvl 10.it was really a super instant kill!.good luck.

On the one hand killing dragons quickly is both fun and good for the sake of party health and spell use. On the other hand it doesn't feel right (at least it doesn't for me)
