how about a story line that suggest you are taken to another world or plane of existence from a highly powerful mage who gated you into it, much like how you gate a pit demon into a temple or something. Maybe to the city of Tyr from the 94' game Wake of the Ravager or something like that. Maybe another battle with the Zhentarim or maybe another Time of Troubles when the gods come back to take mortal form again? Maybe one that an evil clone is made of yourself "from the new star trek movie)? I have tons and tons of different storyline, but these are the best.

Oh wait... Another idea. Star Trek vs. D&D. Future vs. Past.

Progress Report:

Just finished making Character Templates for BG3 Chapter 1
Finished making Durlag's Tower Ground Floor (your home)
Finished making Beregost, High Hedge, South+West Beregost Countryside, and the Coast Way.

Construction on Nashkell and the Friendly Arm Inn underway.

Will in the future include: Cloakwoods, Cloudpeak Pass, Nashkell mines, and many countryside features.

BG3's 1st chapter will very mush resemble BG1 with all the free countryside to explore...

Chapter 2 takes you east to the edge of Cormyr in hot pursuit of your enemies. Here you will see the glorious castles of Cormyr, and discover the evil at its heart.

Chapter 3 leads you to the north and west of Cormyr, to strongholds you never dreamed off. And to face a foe you faced before....

Chapter 4 leads you back, back to the Sword Coast. Here you finally confront your destiny!

All in Baldurs Gate III - the Heart of Cormyr.

One thing about your character at the end of ToB is that they will be extremly powerful. Wouldn't it be more of a point to have say the child of your original character and the original character be detrimined on the new PC that you have created. This would mean you could send the new PC instead of your old one so that it creates a more interesting game in Avatar's game? Since you won't get many people more powerful than your character that are not Avatar's of Gods that is pretty fair.

By the end of TOB, the characters we play either become Bhaal, or are at such an unreal level that they are on par with Elminster, et al.

As such, a new game would almost require a new generation - otherwise how could it be balanced for new players and old (the same game would have to support level 40 imports from TOB and brand new players, who certainly shouldn't start out with level 40 characters.

Given these considerations, I'd suggest keeping everything the same, except extend the saga to the next generation. Maybe the protagonist is, depending upon race, the progeny of the BGI/BGII series character and his romantic interest - that would fit well with the "about twenty years later" timeline. The kid is just old enough to go out and kick some butt.
You could be Delon from SoA

Maybe some kind of evil cult will have stripped you of your powers.
What is the game goping to based on? The infinity engine or neverwinter nights, or what?

Problem with that is that resembles SoA to much with Irencuis stealing your soul.

Well, as I may or may not all ready have said (this may have been to someone talking about writing a sequel to Lord of the Rings, involving a return of Sauron) the mark of good story is that it has a beggining, a middle, and AN END, so I personally am agaisnt a further sequel to the Child of Bhaal saga. Making a further continuation of this story would be pointless at the best, and a depressing money grabbing exercise to alienate loyal fans at worst.
I have, though, like everyone probably, thought of ideas to continue the BG story, and those were what I posted on the board.
On the other hand, another game using the Infinity Engine, set in the Forgotten Realms, in the same style would be great!

I don't get it, why use the old characters, considering that ToB has already dictated all 6 of their futures at the end of the game. I say, if you had a romance with a character, Jaheira, Viconia, or Aerie, have their children be the main characters of BG3. Besides, Misc and half the other characters "disappeared" while traveling across the realms. I say there should be somewhat two sides to this. One, if you didn't have a romance, then become an entirely new adventurer related to one of the characters or your champion if you chose to become a god. But I do agree with some of you. The character should run into your main one from ToB as a quest wiether you became a god or not.

The child of your character is best cos it would be to hard to continue your characters level up. Think about it, your character is nearly as strong as a god and is more powerful than Elminster (lv 29). Who could you fight then? Cyric? Better if you have the child of say Jaheira/Aerie/Viconia/Mazzy or if you are a female, Anomen.
