*grumble* *grumble* Can't wait for Ziroc to archives the posts from yesteryear. :ž

el_kalkylus, next time, please check the date of the thread. As for your question, Skull Trap have a shorter range than the Sequencers. In other words, aim nearer.

SPOILERISH (as everything in this topic...)
Someone mentioned 3x Flame Arrow ion SC. I always do that =D

Recipe for Dragon Killing (all but the red one ;():

- Spell Trigger 3x Lower Resistance
- Spell Sequencer 3x Flame Arrow

With my solo-wizard, the SC 3x FA was dealing 75 d6 damage... that's just too much =]

I liked the 2x Skull Trap + Protection from magical energy someone has mentioned...

And damn, wasn't aware that sunfire pierces magic resistance... is it a bug or is it supposed to be so?

yes, its in the spell description...of course, how can i forget SEQUENTIAL SUNFIRES OF DOOM!!!

(from my cheese guide)

Sequential Sunfires of Doom(Userunfriendly)
Now here is one of mine, a cheese i frankly think is pure elegance in concept...too bad it doesnt always work...you see, the spell sunfire when cast makes you immune to fire for about 3 seconds, then hits you with a powerful fireball spell...

First unequip each item in your party that decreases spell casting time, like the amulet of power and the robe of vecna, then have all your mages memorize 3 sunfires, and a spell trigger, then load up the spell trigger with 3 sunfires, and surround a blue circle enemy...like the shadow dragon, or the black dragon, or before eclipse triggers....then pause the game, and click on each mage, trigger the spell trigger on self, do this with ALL the mages, and after ALL mages triggers sunfire on self, unpause the game....now if you did this right, each mage is unloading a triple sunfire on the same instant (this is very important, and why you had to unequipp all items that decrease spell casting speed) so at the instant the game is unpaused, each mage is completely immune to fire, and thus cannot be hurt by the sunfire of the mage next to you...

3 sunfires, with a cap of 15d6 damage, with say 4 mages in a party, is

3x4x15d6, or a maximum of 1080 points of damage that completely ignores magic resistance(sunfire can be saved but not resisted)...i have crispy fried the black and shadow dragons instantly, and its just fun...

but on slower systems, sometimes one mage in certain locations is slower than the other mages, since the computer has a slight lag, and if one mage is slower or faster than the others, mages will fry too...but timed right, its a elegant way to inflict massive damage on magic resistant enemies, like dragons or demons..if you have slower systems, have each mage cast protion from elements and protection from energy on themselves, or just spell immunity evocation..due to ownership rules, you are completely protected by evocation area damage spells as long as the npc is not the one casting the spell, so it will protect a mage completely from its neighbor's evocation spell, sunfire...

-------------------------------------------------------------

btw...Wd, did you know that flame arrow is actually a very powerful spell that is highly effective against magic resistant creatures??? say you're fighting drow, or mindflayers, and you unleash a flame arrow..

now the higher the level you are, the more arrows you get per level, and when the spell hits, each arrow, each bit of flame damage is rolled against the target's magic resistance...and save, of course...so say you've hit a dragon with a flame arrow, and your level gives you 5 flame arrows per spell cast...each arrow is going to have a chance of bring blocked by the enemie's magic resistance, but conversely has a chance of penetrating the target's magic resistance...so you get 5 seperate rolls or attempts to punch the damage past the target's magic resistance, and due to laws of probability, some will get thru and hurt the target...of course lower resistance will help, but to put it bluntly, a flame arrow or sunfire are the best fire based spells to use against magically resistant critters..

ps...this is why magic missiles is such a killer spell, especially on higher levels, where you get more missiles per cast
