Hmm - a little low I think. It should only take 10-20 minutes to get that CHA up to 18 as well. 91 total is good, but not especially rare, while your 76 is very low.

*shrug* I didn't feel much like rerolling for the perfectest of perfect stats, especially when I was just going to cheese it anyway. Gnome set to work doing +Reputation quests immediately, which gave him all the discount he needed. Besides, there's a certain charm in being mistaken for a half-grown troll.

I don't have ToSC. I need to go out and find it for the Mac someplace.

However, I have soloed a Bard of all things though Baldur's Gate. How bad could ToSC possibly be? I mean, come on, after the Duchal Palace fight, the top of the Iron Throne fight, and the Undercity Maze, not much could really be that scary. Can it?

Butterfingers, your Bard would not survive alone in Durlag's Tower. I doubt he would make it to the door. Let alone be able to face what is inside. So if you are not afraid, you will be, you will be.

Still that is pretty impressive making it through BG without TotSC with only a bard.

I am considering going through the whole thing with my character and two of my friends characters. startout multi-play and then shift some files.

My party of two Bards has just reached Durlag's Tower, so I'll soon know how tough it is for them. I thought I might have trouble on Werewolf island (it was hard to do solo) but they came through it quite easily,

One thing people tend to forget about Bards is that they get to high levels quite soon, so their magic gets more powerful. You should see the power of Mirror Image, when combined with Ghost Armour, Blur, etc. and even simple spells like Chromatic Orb can become really useful. All I need now is a Bag of Holding and a Scroll Case and I'll be ready for anything.

The Ice Island is tough enough I would have thought. Must have been a right pain, judging from my very first attempt to start the game properly with a mage. Multiple reloads, even before I'd left Candlekeep. Bah, humbug. Still, I'd only just got BG and a mage was my very first character. That learned me.

All right then gang. How about the smallest party that you've completed the game with (mention whether it is with (-out) TotSC)? You've got no excuses on this one Keraptisdm, so tell us what you've got!
I am presently trying to travel the world of the Sword Coast with myself as a conjurer and Imoen as a companion...I just started a little while ago but I got through the Nashkel Mines okay although I temporarily used Xan in the fight against Mulahey to block off the Skeletons and the poor, abused and misled Kobolds who attack you from the north...He died before mulahey did so I didn't have to share XP with him though. I just left him and his sword in the mines and called it an adventure. I think that I will borrow Minsc for the Gnoll stronghold but let him and Danyheir go after that mission is completed.

Nice idea to ave one main character and hire in some specialist help to clear an area, then drop them off afterwards. Maybe you could get Coran to help in Cloakwood, then Yeslick in the Mines and so on. Just remember to take along some equipment fot them to use.

Progress report on my two Bards - just did the chess game and tried the Potion of Absorbsion + Boots of Grounding + Invisibility tactic that Lemmy suggested and that was a fun way to gain an advantage, after all we were a little out-numbered. Another thing I have noticed in this adventure is just how many of the traps in DT stay active after they are triggered. For much of the time both Bards have to use Mirror Image, because the both get hit by the trap (and sometimes for a second time if they have to come back that way). It makes for slow progress - sigh.

Just a couple more thoughts about Durlag's Tower.

Since my Bards have to walk through just about every trap in the place we get to know which type are the worst. My Mirror Images can absorb the damage from almost every type of trap but there were some protecting chests on the lower level the were particulaly nasty. They when through all my images and then did big damage, so that was about 10 hits all together - and I couldn't see what type of damage it inflicted. Nasty stuff though.

I also had to use Knock to open a few locked doors on my journey, so I wondered what I would have done if I had been playing a Fighter or a Cleric. Does anyone know if a Fighter can force his/her way through all the locked doors, or find a way around them, otherwise they could be prevented from reaching the end ?
