SPOILER! Tactics mod question

Now I couldn't stay behind in starting up the tactics mod, now could I? As I had soloed the game before (with a fighter/mage) I thought about starting a solo career with a sorcerer and Tactics mod installed. Now I'm practically getting butchered by Ilyich and his goons!

I had no difficulties with the Mephit Machine, or Ataqaah the genie who summons the Ogre Mage. And I already killed a bunch of Shadow Thieves as well, but the problem is, that they kill me so damn quickly, and thus I need like all my spells to kill them off. Then I need to rest, and two new Shadow Thieves will spawn. This way I can never try and kill Ilyich! The greater Otych is not a big of a deal, but it's regenerating powers are a pain in the ass!
Please help!

I've got the following spells:

Magic Missile
Chromatic Orb
Identify
Spook
Knock
Invisibility
Detect Invisibility
Stoneskin
Shield
Skull Trap

Hmm... did you try using the Search button? Anyway IIRC the Otyugh casts his Regeneration only once. Have Stoneskin on and remember to use close-the-door cheese. Oh and about the II battle: try to lure II aways from his goons and bombard him with Skull Traps. When(if) you get MMM use it. It is very effective.

I think you should get better spells, or .... oh I don't know...

Yes you should distract some of them.

Well he's a sorcerer so the only way for him to gain new spells is to level up and there isn't even for a solo character much experience in Irenicus Dungeon so I guess it isn't possible to get many new spells...

Yeah I did use the search button, and read most of the topics, but judging from that it would probably mean that I would have to start over with a new sorcerer and the correct spells. I don't want to do that, because this is my game, and my choice of spells.

Have you gone through the second level of the dungeon yet? You do not actually need to beat II before going to level 2, and if you're lucky, you'll get another level there and be able to come back to II with a few more spells. You should also find a few more scrolls up there that might be useful.

Yeah, advancing to level 2 would be an option, although I'm not certain that would relieve me of any problems; the resting option isn't good, because shadow thieves (two of them) keep spawning. I can kill them, of course, but that takes a lot of my spells (and vampiric touch which is quite effective against them).
I need to be full powered when facing the Mephit Portals (I think) so I need some luck/way to rest safely. This is just too hard!

You don't need to waste any of your spells on the shadow theives that respawn. Just get them to chase you into a room and then run out of the room shutting the door behind you. Save Improved Illy and his crew for last and separate them one at a time. The Glabrezu will see you if you're invisible so get him to attack you and use the same tactic as the one I mentioned for the shadow thieves. You really need to have Melf's Minute Meteors, that is about the only way you can hit him. If you don't get that just keep him locked up and forget about his 12,000 x.p. For the others keep luring them out 1 by 1. Plant some skull traps in some spots you will remember and get them to run into them. Make sure you hit Zhivago with a magic missile or something when he starts casting. Without Zhivago and the Glabrezu they can't see through your invisibility and you can go past them and get the Air Elemental scroll to help you. That's all I can think of right now. Good luck.
