Worried Bad Neck aches.. (being treated for a stomach ulcer)

The last 2 days, as the day wears on, my neck begins to ache BAD. painful. Is this normal? I thought it may be my aciphex meds (being treated for a small peptic ulcer), so today I am not taking them.. (see if that was just a side effect) but it seems like the pain is coming back..

Just wondering if this neck pain is part of the healing process? I know GERD can cause neck pain/aches, but they thought it may be just an ulcer. (peptic)..
been in hell these past few days. All I can do is lay my head down on the pillow then its hurting that bad. sucks.... nothing helps it either.. no OTC pain meds.

I'm just wondering if this is part of the healing process? If any of you had an ulcer.
Feels like torture.

cant imagine why it would be related to a stomach ulcer....
I get neck aches occasionally though - generally they come about because of my head being in a bad position for a while. It might even be a very comfortable position but because its not a good angle it hurts later.
Ways to cure this are:
1)Sitting in chairs that do not have tall backs so that your head will naturally be supporting itself rather than leaning.

2)Getting a very good pillow eg one that is not too firm or too soft, and it needs to make your head have the correct angle in relation to the rest of your body. For me, i tend to not use pillows because of this and simply use a blanket between my head and either my arm or my hand to get the proper angle.

3) sometimes its a bone or nerve that is misaligned and so twisting your head with your hands to the left & right, and then pulling it towards your right or left shoulders can unkink it - note that it is usually painful to do this but the relief from after is worth it.

GERD is usually present with digestive ulcers, but the ulcer alone will not cause neck pain. The kind of high acid count in the body that is usually present with GERD can cause inflammation of the neck area. Also if you've been prescribed Aciphex then you're being treated for GERD.

I cured an ulcer that I had a few years back, and helped treat someone for it about 3 month ago. I don't bother with doctors and the cocktail of antibiotics as it knocks out too much of the probiotics and you can have complications with it. Even the Aciphex they gave you I personally would never touch, mainly because of the following on the label listed as side-effects. A quick online search found the following list for an antacid medication Aciphex.

•Allergic reaction
•Tiredness
•High blood pressure (hypertension)
•Heart attack (myocardial infarction)
•Migraine
•Fainting
•Syncope
•Chest pain (angina pectoris)
•Increased heart rate (tachycardia)
•Diarrhea
•Nausea
•Vomiting
•Indigestion (dyspepsia)
•Flatulence
•Constipation
•Dry mouth
•Burping
•Loss of appetite (anorexia)
•Gallstones
•Anemia
•Swelling
•Weight gain
•Gout
•Dehydration
•Weight loss
•Insomnia
•Anxiety
•Dizziness
•Depression
•Itching
•Spinning sensation (vertigo)
•Hair loss (alopecia)
•Glaucoma
•Dry eyes
•Abnormal vision
•Ringing of the ears (tinnitus)
•Middle ear infections (otitis media)
•Bladder infection

There are easier and safer ways to get your body back into an alkaline state than risking all these conditions. Try a good calcium supplement. Milk won't work btw.

Yeah, I stopped taking it, and guess what? neck pain is gone.. NASTY meds.. Yeah, I hate taking pills. Especially these newer ones that rarely have a long trial phase. Grrr.

I've gone back to normal Zantac. been taking those whenever I need one--usually never-- but Zantac in the morning and night for 3-4 weeks should clear it up, minus the ummm hair loss, Glaucoma, and yeah, those other nasty side-effects. (I too looked up the side effects, some people thought they were having a stroke due to the side effects! Reminds me of the VIOXX (banned COX-2i) crap.

Sorry to hear that Z. I've never had an ulcer but apparently they're painful as.

Well, you don't even need the Zantac really. A good calcium supp. while avoiding anything acid-forming will get your body back on track naturally. Do you drink alot of sodas or something? It is worth changing your diet because an ulcer is the first warning sign your body gets along a road to more serious problems. If you don't modify your eating habits you can be certain that this, along with other acid issues, will crop up again.

Yeah I've been prescribed three different drugs in the past that ended up being recalled because it had these heart side effects. Nice! thanks doc!

I hope you can get better Ziroc one way or another. I hate taking pills as well. I get barometric pressure headaches and I remember one doctor wanted to prescribe a medication that I had to take every day, even though I didn't get headaches every day. I don't like that. I want a med that I can just take when I have the headache. I still haven't really found that med quite yet. I know Tylenol 3, etc. works, but otherwise it seems only pseudophedrine helps. Depends on how bad the headache is really. If it is bad enough, nothing frikken works (cept, again for the prescrip Tylenol 3, etc. drugs, which I don't have any. Need to hit the dentist and complain of some sort of big pain LOL).

Three weeks ago I also started getting dizzy, and feel unbalanced now all the time. Went to local doctor (since I've moved) (he had Viagra paper on his patient bed LOL) and he told me I didn't have an ear infection or water in the ear. I just had some kind of pressure going on which would be similar to if you plugged your nose, then tried to blow air out of it. Said this condition can be caused by many things, and there is NO treatment, you just deal with it until it goes away. Some technical names of what I think is my problem I found on the net is Labyrinthitis or vestibular neronitis. I seem to be getting better from it, but it is random day to day. At least I can function and go to work, etc. But what crap, seriously. Because I live by myself now so if I get some spell of severe dizziness, I just have to deal with it by myself. fun! Blah. Hopefully it will go away soon altogether. But I feel for you, Ziroc, when it comes to some ailment that just hits you and totally affects your life.

Sounds like a sinus /allergy issue LadyZ. The pressure, the fact that pseudophedrine is the only thing that brings relief and then the dizzy spells, which are a result of the facial sinuses irritating the inner ear, which is what keeps your balance for you. Basically, the dizziness is not a "round and round" dizziness, it's more of a swoon kinda thing, where you feel like "omg im gonna fall" for a few seconds. Personally, i'd pretend you weren't told it's untreatable, and treat it the same way you would a sinus issue. Psudophedrine is good, but can raise up blood pressure etc. and the newer P.E. sinus remedies don't work as well. I'd be eyeing food allergies and triggers to cause the blockage and swelling of the facial sinuses. I'd mix and match foods, targetting my favourite foods first, then working my way down. Cut out dairy and anything mucus forming. Sugar is a huge no-no for a condition like this. But don't let 'em tell you that you must live with it, i've cured things that other practictioners said were incurable. From IBS to CFS.

Yeah-- As Spirit said, it sounds like Sinus issues-- bends over far, and if the pressure gets worse in your head, its usually sinus issues. I had it once, took two weeks to clear. No real treatment for it.

As for my ulcer, it seems a lot better. 4 days ago, I had 2 spells of gagging when trying to take my pills, and got close to throwing up--gas buildup, so I laid on my left side, so the stomach can clear a path for the gas to escape (burp) and I was fine. HATE throwing up. rare for me to do it. I have come close a few times since this ulcer--you know, close as in your mouth begins watering--which is your body creating, basically a coating of protection before you throw up--I noticed if you don't swallow it, and try to burp, 89% chance you'll not be sick.. which is niiiceee.

Yeah, I have back and hip pain, and assume that the meds along with carbonated drinks caused it.. Besides the drinks, I have an excellent diet. normal weight etc..

Just don't need an ulcer on top of the pain.. it's like, ok.. I'm reaching my agro limits!
Should be cool in another two weeks. wee. what JOY, eh?
