I have occasionally given thought to a sequel to the Baldur's Gate saga, )although I have to say the mark of any great stroy is that it has a beginning, a middle and an END), and my ideas for a stroy line are as follows;

Some resergence of Bhaal. The opening could include you being cast down to Faerun by a new avatar of your father who has arisen as a result the actions of an underground cult of Bhaal and/or a secret society within the church of Cyric.

The mission is to reduce the amount of Bhaal worshippers by travelling the sword coast/Faerun/Toril to the level that Bhaal may defeated as a mortal.(A god's Power is directly proportional to the number and ferver of their worshippers)

This, I think, would make a good send off for the infinity engine, rather than IWD2.

Only one problem; It assumes you chose to be a god at the end of ToB, although this could be worked around by you hearing of a threat to the serenity of the sword coast (this being Bhaal of course)

hm, thought has JUST come to me, so at the moment it's in its rawest form.

You are a slave (of any race) who is incarcerated in Ust Natha (that WAS the Drow city in BG2, right?). Anyway, when the char roughs stuff up by going through the city, you escape in the madness and make yourself throught the underdark. At the begginning you pick up a weapon of a dead drow, and maybe band together with some fellow prisoners. Inevitably, you would come to the surface, but it would be nice to play in the Underdark for a while.

Oh, and for the people who will, of course, say "But what if you slipped silently out of Ust Natha, or just went to the surface and didn't bother with them" just remember that BG2 assumed that you knew Jaheirah, Khalid, Minsc, the witch, Viconia, and countless others. Just by assuming that you killed a few drow is not as big a jump than that

Hey everyone, I am in the process of making
Baldur's Gate III - Heart of Cormyr
Chapter 1:

Here is a brief taster of ONLY the FIRST chapter:

Resident with your beloved in your fortress Durlag's Tower, you have lived in bliss and comfort for 20 years. Though a mere flash for the elven race, your fellow human adventurers have passed into old age if not beyond. News has reached you of the disappearance of Minsc and the death of Keldorn in defending Athkatla.
However, even more worrying is the recent escalation in border skirmishes between Amn and Baldur's Gate. Trade war has led to both sides accusing each other of plundering trade lines and even worse: assassination. Waterdeep's attempt to steer the two states away from war has led to an Amn sponcered Shadow Thief attack on the Lords of Waterdeep, killing 1 and injuring another.
Now an army marches south from Waterdeep, gathering strength at Baldur's Gate with hundreds of Flaming Fists.
Amn in defence have bannished the Shadow Thieves from Athkatla and called for neighbouring aid from Tethyr and even as far south as Calisham.
Already leading elements of Flaming Fists swarm the once quiet and peacefull town of Beregost. Likewise, Amnnish soldiers heavily patrol Nashkell and it's surrounding countryside.
You are summoned to a high meeting to Candlekeep to discuss the state of affairs. Yet it is at Candlekeep you feel a sudden unease... as if your sweet former home brews with evil...
Little do you know, your journey will take you further and deeper than ever before.
Before long you will meet with old friends, ascend the steps of Zhentil Keep, look out from the heights of the Raven Citadel, battle with the avatars of gods, travel to the heart of cormyr, and finally meet your destiny...

All in the: Baldur's Gate III - Heart of Cormyr

Hmmm....... I know most of you might disagree here but these are my thoughts:

a successful game , movie or a book comes out and turns into a big success.... very nice... a sequel is soon made which is an even better success; it adds lots of new stuff and corrects mistakes of the previous part.... very nice.... now what happens is encouraged by the success hundreds of sequels suddenly come out... although they carry good original ideas I feel that later actually spoil the saga.... the storyline starts to be stretched from all possible directions to all possible extends.... not very nice...

i think warcraft is an example......... im saying warcraft 3 is an excellent agme but the storyline isnt... the storyline now got extended to the third generation.... not only that.. one level left the ending open as to what happend to prince arthas and that night-elf's brother....

there are more much better examples..

thats why i was really happy when bg2 tob was declared the final chapter.... the ending of a saga... and what a magnificent ending it was...

with so many ideas given by the members here i think it would be better, much better if you use these ideas and make a new Forgotten realms game without connecting it to bg series... just call it Heart of Cormyr.......

just my thoughts..........

One more thing....

in my opinion what you should do is keep exactly the same storyline you mentioned above and just change the protagonist of your game and instead of having the same person from BG instead make him a completely new person... while you put some people from BGseries and make references to it it would be nice if your game would be a completely new story and nothing to do with the saga of children of bhaal........

and you could add the hero from baldurs gate (as a god or as a mortal) not as a playable character but have him involved in one of the quests......

The plot is great - and I thirst for further BG adventures. I do agree with ZFR on one point, though for different reasons.

By the end of TOB, the characters we play either become Bhaal, or are at such an unreal level that they are on par with Elminster, et al.

As such, a new game would almost require a new generation - otherwise how could it be balanced for new players and old (the same game would have to support level 40 imports from TOB and brand new players, who certainly shouldn't start out with level 40 characters.

Given these considerations, I'd suggest keeping everything the same, except extend the saga to the next generation. Maybe the protagonist is, depending upon race, the progeny of the BGI/BGII series character and his romantic interest - that would fit well with the "about twenty years later" timeline. The kid is just old enough to go out and kick some butt.
