Default Ready Weapons

Are there any methods to make an NPC equip a weapon right from the beginning? As far as I have seen, the NPC editor only allows to add a weapon to the inventory of a NPC.

As far as I know, not at this time. That is something that falls under the auspices of the yet undone combat AI.

DC will look at whatever weapons a NPC has and will ready the best one. Same with armour. Or at least it should according to the code I'm looking at.

I just did a simple test and the NPC did ready the melee weapon, but not the armour.

Seems to use missile weapons first, right?

yes, the combat engine readies the most powerful range weapon and if not the most powerful melee weapon, and IIRC it will pick a weapon over a stronger no weapon attack. The current combat AI is very simple.

Didn't test missiles, just melee.

In any case, it will not use items or equip defensive items like shields and armor..

I assume that if there are no long range weapons, the best short range weapon will be equipped even if it is cursed, right?
