My vote is for Myles. That deprecating little twit is whiner. Plus, he's virtually impossible to avoid every single game.
On the other hand, he makes both an excellent Rogue and a powerful Fighter if he gets developed. An honorable mention goes to Urq, who is a bad Psionic, and gives stinky rewards. Another honorable mention goes to Saxx, who won't go to Marten's Bluff. What a puss! |

I usually don't use any of 'em, except maybe RFS81, since he'll go anywhere.

Sgt Glumph. I slugged my way passed a giant monster. And then battle a group of annoying ghost. After that I have to content with battalion and battalion of ferocious butt kicking rynjins to go and save his sorry arse.
Does he give me a thank you or even some sort of appreciation? Noooo...he took a swipe at me when I took a little detour to the sea caves. If I had my way, I would have let that Nessy chomp him into pieces. |

I feel so ineffectual with my piddly little post count. This is the ultimate veterans thread!
Thanks for bringing up Sgt. Glumph. He clearly should win the annoying RPC title, based on the case presented above. That reminds me of a question that I thought of while reading Flamestryke's RPC pages. Can the alliance quest RPC's be retained indefinitely if you never complete the alliance quest? The page makes it appear that they can both go anywhere, including the peak. Last edited by Horpner Sneed; 09-27-2007 at 07:04 PM. |

Hmm, I've never tried that since all the RPC's (except RFS81) stink. I would consider it if they could go anywhere. But you still have to bump them at some point to take on quest RPC's.

Rodan and Drazic will go everywhere with you as long as you don't return to General Yamir after you complete "Destroy the Blackship" quest.
There is a problem with them however, is that if one of them dies or become unconcious. He will "magically" disappear from your party and you'll never be able to find him. When that happens, the other one will expel himself from your party and you can never find him too. So in an essence, when these two are in your party, you must make sure they are alive and well. |

I only really remember Myles, Vi and RFS81 in my first playthrough last summer and as far as characters go, they were fairly safe and sanitised - nothing too obnoxious or out of the ordinary. I quite liked Myles' aristocratically stuffy airs - his whining could be quite amusing at times. Vi also had this classic dignified vibe about her that made her seem more important than the quest itself. I kept her to the end too I think. I don't recall too many others, except RFS81, who was fun to have along for awhile.
I think I'll have to try some of these other RPC's in my next playthrough, which will also be with the Deathstalker mod and contain my first attempt to create a Bishop! (I'm still a definite newbie to this game despite winning it the once!) I might try to find these retro dungeons too, which I missed the first time...

I remember how funny it was the first time I asked Myles about the Mook. He really doesn't have a high opinion my party.
![]() Building a Bishop: handsome rewards for careful long term planning. That's Wizardry 8 in a nutshell! The only drawback is how horrid they are in the beginning. I always forget until I start building a new one. My current party is just the right level to drag Drazic and Rodan to the peak with me. It's a shame, though, because the game is basically over by the time I'm powerful enough to take out the away camp. I don't expect them to make much of a contribution. |
