So I'm pretty late to this party, but my boss has convinced me to buy the game. He just started a week ago, and I'll be partnering with him and some others on the Alliance side (I know most of the folks on here play Horde, but I'm not going that route). He started a NE, so I thought I'd start with the same. After going through the choices, I thought I'd roll up a NE Hunter until I saw burnzey's post claiming about 42% of players are exactly that (and the graphic in his signature). Any suggestions for a night elf, or good arguments as to why not to go that route?

80% of the stats are made up.
70% of the made up stats have no basis. 60% of the people that believe it are idiots 50% of the time I am wrong. See? I can make up stats too. Just try a class and play with it for a while. After all, you can always try another if you happen to dislike it. |

if you want to level fast try a shaman; a non-twink shaman well played can level ridiculously fast.
Ive played a priest and a rogue and i like them both; but they play completely differently. the rogue is a lot less powerful than the priest when it comes to soloing ability mainly because the priest can take on 3 or 4 mobs her level while the rogue can only take on 1 or 2 at a time. So that basically means my priest can generally complete quests that say you need a group to beat as well as quests that are red. of course she also kills things a little more slowly so it can make grinding take a bit longer if you dont like doing quests for experience. other popular choices are druid & paladin since they are very versatile. |

It may be that it is overpowered but that doesn't stop hunter from being alot of fun. Probably the most fun I have had with a class. Shaman would come next. I like being able to do lots of stuff. Priest would be third for me, only because it is hard soloing and I solo alot. If you are ensured a partner then you'll be fine. And you will always be in high demand as a priest, but the question is can you deal with healing people all day. Sometimes you just wanna hit things.
But do not discount a class just because alot of people play them, it just means they are alot of fun! Or that people like to wtflolbubble.

Rogues are my favourite class of all. They are so overpowered that I topped damage meters always (beaten sometimes by very well epic geared mage) . My rogue have no problem soloing 3 ~ 4 monsters at one time. I can even do 2 elite at one time. While others need a group to complete group quest, I can complete it solo. Heck I even completed some of the quests inside an instance solo, eg uldaman or brd or even the karazhan key quests. Oh, I have no problem getting invites to instances as a rogue, even heroics (no kidding! though I usually turn them down. ) .
Another thing with a rogue is that they are fun in pvp. You can just stealth and watch people fight. When the people sit down to drink and eat. BAM! they take a dirt nap with a quick and powerful ambush. Hunter, well my first character in WoW is a hunter. They are fun in a way. but not as powerful as my rogue. While they can handle 3 ~ 4 monsters at one time. They have some difficulty in dispatching elite ones. Your surviving ability come from your pet, when your pet dies, you can be sure you are next. Hunter have no problem soloing quest, but group quest might be a bit hard to them. One thing I don't like about hunter is their expensive maintenance, you need to buy bullets/arrows and also food for your pet. Very very tedious because you'll have to return to town every now and often to replenish your stock. That's one of my reason why I don't play my hunter anymore. Another reason is, it's hard to get an invite to instance. Really.. |
