I have searched google for a while and I could not find one to my liking. I am looking for something close to Everquest but not quite Everquest. I’m just sick of EQ after playing it for over 5 years.
I would like it to be a first person game. I would like it to be set in a fantasy world (wizards, trolls, etc.) I would like it to be just like Everquest but with a different mythos. I’m just sick of the whole EQ deal. Does anyone know of anything like this? I searched through onrpg, gameogre, etc. Nothing I liked. Why are good free games so hard to find? As for finding a good pay to play game? I don't really want to shell out the cash for 2 rpgs. I currently pay to play Matrix Online and am having a blast. The free rpg should just be there to relax me in between the time I spend trying to figure out who killed Morpheus. Thanks guys.

Hmmmm.... good games that are totally free are hard to come by, for obvious reasons. Just for clarification do you mean totally free or just free to play?
Guildwars is free to play, all you need to do is buy the disk, about the price of a normal game, and you can play it all you wnat with no extra cost. They are planning to release optional expansion packs, but if you want you can stick to the orginal game. But if you mean totally free, then i'm afraid i can't help you. ![]() |

Although I don't support this game, I have to say it's almost perfect for your criteria.
Runescape It's a third person view game that uses Java, the normal version is free to play. It has classic types of monsters and is very much like EQ. The graphics aren't the best though. They do want you to pay a 5 dollar monthly fee to be able to play the best parts of the game though. It's still considerably large without it though. |

I play that. Its more an adventure than an rpg, i'm not a memeber btw. Its far more simplistic than EQ, but for a free game its good. (PS any one looking for about 30 steel 2-handers give me a shout

I am currently trying out Runescape. Now it seems like you have to become a member to get more quests? So far the game seems ok, but I a still looking for something better.
As for Guild Wars, I bought it and it was hands down the most colossal waste of money ever. I reached the max level WAY too fast. I didn’t even have time to blink, lol. It only has so many combinations of things you can be, and you are limited to being Human. That kinda narrows it down for me. They should throw in some more races, more skills and a higher level option, or slow the leveling down so it can't be attained as fast.

Actually I found a better site, and am currently playing a game called Knight Online. Its more action based, but good nontheless.
Thanks for the link though Huwge. But I think they ripped off the site where I got KO from, lol.

Yeah KO is actually really cool. I like the races, there more umm... different then the other games. I’m running around as a lil green midget nuking things, its awesome!
I never heard about it either. I actually didn’t even know of its existence, but its a cool game. Kinda reminds me of a cross between Diablo II and Everquest. Just what the doctor ordered. If anyone want to check it out, here is the url. http://www.knightonlineworld.com/

Is the game totally free, or is it "Beta test the game for 2 months for free, then we'll switch to pay to play and screw you" free? |
