Well kind of... at least my sanity is at stake but I bet I got your attention now...
I decided in some momentary madness today to switch over to XP from Windows 2000. I have XP corporate edition and when I installed it everything went great... until I was going to connect to the internet. Not only had my dsl connection disapeared (so much for keeping the old settings eh Bill?) but it won't allow me to create a new one. When I got to the add connection wizard I can only make a broadband connection that is premanent and doesn't requiere signing on but the option to make the kind I need. with signing and logging in is greyed out... anyone know this problem and how to fix it? All help most appreciated! |

Perhaps the corporate version doesn't allow that particular connection? Sounds strange to me, but I see no other reason why it wouldn't let you make the necessary connection.
Try running a query through the MS Knowledge base.

Corprate? You mean Pro right? I got the same thing and I'm connected fine. Two things. Contact your internet provider, and contact the DSL modem manufacturer for help. I'm going to assume you are on a different computer than the one you are having issues with.

you might have to reinstall something or other from your isp.

I installed my isp disk again, but nothing happened... I'm on my laptop right now...
apparantly my isp does not have a 24 hour hotline... I was told to check their homepage (oh the irony) or call at worktime... |

Yeah, the "no internet-check webpage" routine is familliar tome.
I don't think that's an error(DSL is always connected without logon), but it's a communications error of the OS. Try dual-boot.
