I'm fighting the mother brain in the illythid layer and I can't touch these bastards with anything, help!

Wait, have you killed the Master Brain yet? A Chromatic Orb from a lvl 12 Mage will do the trick.

everything in the room was toast including the brain, still could not touch the golems.

ToB is installed so it said i didnt need them, anyway im off to bed ill try again tomorrow.

Actually, there is a patch for ToB as well.
Official ToB Patch Once you install it, go get the Baldurdash ToB Fixpack v1.12. |

I was always able to service the Master Brain and the Brain Golems by means of Mordekainen Swords. I unlocked the door, sent a Skeletal Warrior in and if the door locked behind it then I unlocked the door again and sent Mordekainen Swords.
Perhaps, blunt weapons are not needed but +1 is not enough? Mordekainen swords are +4 slashing.

Well, Flail of Ages is +3, while Staff of Rynn is +4, so something is seriously whacked up. I recall Carsomyr +5 to be ineffective though, and had to resort to using the Warhammer of Thunderbolts +3.
