Spoiler? -------------------------------------
/ / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Not sure if I made a big oops or not, but are you supposed to let the Mage at High Hedge live? After the chicken episode and buying some spells I picked him twice, went back for a third, got caught and ended up killing him in self defense. Did get 3000 Exp. for it though. Also looking for some advice on party make-up. I know this has been a fairly hot topic in the past, but I've invested a fair amount of time in Minsc, Jaheira, Branwen, Imoen and Dynaheir (please forgive my liberal spellings). I'm sure there are some good options coming up soon (I met a dwarven fighter in Beregost, a female thief near the lighthouse and a female drow elf during a quick foray up north before I realized I should be heading south first). Thanks again to everyone for the advice. [This message has been edited by Gibdog (edited 07-11-2001).] [This message has been edited by Gibdog (edited 07-11-2001).] |

It dosen't matter much that you killed Thalytar (sp), unless you wanted to buy anything off him again.
As for party make up, and i'm guessing your good-alinged, Minsc and Dynaheir are a good team, imoen as well if you dual her. Jaheria is close to useless, druid spells arent really that great in BG1 anyway, so by dropping her you wouldent lose much. Instead i would pick up Kivan, (in High hedge area) Because he's excellent with a bow (killed Seravok by himself! ![]() Also, Branwen is pretty....um... crap. Instead i would pick up Yeslick (fighter/cleric) He can tank pretty good and cast just as well as branwen. (Though you cn only get him in Chapter 4, so till then i'd lug her about for a while) ------------------ ![]() |

Jerome, although I really hate Branwen's guts, I was regretting letting her go, cuz she can do Cure Heavy Wounds, which I never got Yeslick to do. Also, my dad had some trouble w/ Yeslick where he would disappear when you left the mines or something like that, I don't know if it was a bug.
Definitely drop Jaheira she is useless. Kivan is good and also Ajantis, a paladin somewhere in the NE. he has many neat special abilities. Definitely keep Minsc, Dynaheir, and Imoen. you don't even need to dual her if you don't want, Dynaheir is a good invoker. ------------------ ![]() Official teaser and ranger of the HADB Clan "Evil round every corner...careful not to step in any."-Minsc "Gimme a sword, I'll win this war for you!"-Mad Martigan |

Hmm, i never had any problems with Yeslick before
![]() Actually i'd preffer viconia over both branwen and Yeslick, but she is evil....and she fits quite nicely into my evil party, led by my Fallen Paladin! :evillaugh: ------------------ ![]() |

I find both Khalid and Jaheira good, unless you get too high rep and have to listen to the druids whining all the time *anoying*
Jaheira is a good healer, and can cast lightning strike. My opinion ------------------ We call him Bobby Corwen ![]() |

I don't like Jaheria, but I really like Khalid now that he's getting a pretty low AC and will soon be a Grand Master in longswords, so I guess I'm stuck with his winy wife.

I am torn about Jaheira. On the one hand she is now beginning to come into her own as a healer and also by picking up some other abilities. She is, however, a big liability in a fight and this is what drives me to question her worth. i did dump khalid very early on and am glad to have done so (no offense to you Khalid supports out there).

Man, Jaheira is a great fighter! Deck her out with a good plate mail, helmet, large shield and club/scimitar and you're away laughing. Plus her healing spells come very much in handy (as well as her more destructive higher-level spells). Khalid however is not that great a fighter (only 15 strength, definitely not a good thing for a fighter who should be a strength specialist) and in my game he was ripped to bits by a pack of wild dogs on the way down to Nashkel. I'm a good-aligned player and i know how annoying neutral characters are when they start whining but i recommend keeping Jaheira on.
My team: Me (Tank Fighter) Kivan (Bowman/Pikeman) Jaheira (Healer/Tank fighter) Yeslick (Healer/Offensive Cleric/Tank Fighter) Imoen (High-Level thief, no lock she can't pick, no trap she can't find) Dynaheir (Harbinger of firey death) |

I have myself (paladin), Branwen, Dynaheir,Minsc, Imoen, and Coran. Coran is a thief/fighter...great combo and necessary as I wanted to put Imoen on her mage path and so had to get a great thief! Coran is a fine fighter and a better thief then Imoen! I recommend that you definately dump that complaing creature Jaheira...she is a drag and has irritating dialogue. Branwen is great now that she has come up a few levels. Pure Cleric and also not bad with a +2 Hammer in her hand and the right set of gaultlets!

I dumped Jaheira and picked up Shar Teel (sp?). She seems ok so far and more formidable in the field than her predecessor (no offense, but I had Jaheira with plate, +1 shield and club and she was still getting pounded). From what I am reading, there are other options out there to fill that role, but I'll stick with her for now. I gave the ring of holiness to Branwen which gives her a few more slots and she's tougher now with the +2 hammer, but I am not set against getting someone to replace her as well.
I have Imoen at level 6 now and fast approaching a level-up. When do people recommed dualing her and what does that entail? Also, if I like Dynaheir a lot, do I need to dual Imoen or is that not necessary? |
