Hi yall. im soloing a cav this time, and i must say it is harder than a mage. sure you get nice cav bonuses, but you are really restricted in attack methods. besides the ole " lead one out at a time" tactic, battles against a couple tanks and mage support are really tough. does anyone have any advice? im fairly proficient in the game although ive never gone to the end of TOB with any party (got bored, wanted to try a new party) soloed a mage for a bit, but i wanted to try a hack n slash character. chose a cav because he is strictly melee attack. nice bonuses, cool turn undead at higher levels. what i really am looking forward to is fighting the dragons with no magic support. i have lilacor, boots of speed, plate mail, ring of prot +2, helm of balduran, cloak of displacement, belt of inertial barrier. and of course a few potions of fire resistance. has anyone else soloed a melee fighter vs a dragon? i would like to read about your tactics to see if im approaching it the best way.

You can kill a Dragon in 2 rounds... ...

First of all, cast spells like Armour of Faith, Draw Upon Holy Might, Protection from Evil, Hardiness, etc... ...

CHARGE

Activate Greater Whirlwind and whack away. I recommend using weapons that have elemental damage as this will help in stunning the Dragon even if he has Stoneskins. Frostreaver plus a good shield is a good combo.

The Shadow Dragon is trickier. It casts Protection from Magical Weapons. Run around for about 4 rounds, before you charge towards it. Firkragg is unfortunately dumb... If you charge towards him fast enough, his own Dispel Magic will remove all his spell protections... ...

i am level 12 and buffed as well as a solo pally can. fire resistance 127%, dragon longsword, shield of harmony (prot from confusion/charm), draw on holy might, prot from evil, and i get a silence spell on him. however even though it says "silenced" he still casts stoneskin, haste, and hits me twice to kill me (50 damage per hit) my ac is -7, hp 100, thaco is 6. he is just too tough for me i think. i see other threads recommending a party level of 12, but what would anyone recommend for a solo cavalier?

Oro!

/me flips head over heels anime style

I personally did not tackle Firkragg till I was level 26. This was because I wanted to load up on the High Level Abilities before attempting to defeat him. Have you done all the 'easier' quests yet? Buy the Shield of Balduran and poing with wild abandon in the Cult of the Unseeing Eye quest. You should be able to gain at least 2-3 levels alone from that quest.

De'Arnise Keep and Umar Hills are easier too, as is your Paladin Stronghold quests( related to the Windspear Hill quest, but killing Firkragg can be postponed at your leisure). The main city is chockful of quests too, like the Bridge District Murders, the Planar Prison quest, Mae'Var Guildhall quest, etc... ...
