And this topic has NOT been done fifty times
My taste in music is a mystery and I like to keep it that way...

I like virtually everything except Pop and Modern Country. I lean towards Alternative and Metal. Typically the more it appeals to teenie-boppers the less it's likely to appeal to me (guess I'm an old fart), but there are many exceptions (like if the artist has any actual talent... something rare in teenie bands)

some of my newer fav's...

Macy Gray
Tool
Green Day
Linkin Park
Creed
Disturbed
Tracy Chapman
Seven Mary Three
Eminem
The White Stripes
Drowning Pool
Ani DiFranco
Staind
Red Hot Chili Peppers
3 Doors Down
Alanis Morissette
Kid Rock
Norah Jones
Marilyn Manson

and there's probably twice that number of older bands like Floyd, Zep, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Kline, etc...

Then there's the top top, just a few there:
Johnny Cash
Simon and Garfunkle
Beatles
Stevie Ray Vaughn

I like so much, from Chicane to Suicidal Tendencies. I'd be here til Christmas if I were to list every band I enjoy.

varying stuff... punk (Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, Mxpx, The Ramones), some ska (Less than Jake), some acoustic like Dashboard Confessional, alternative like Bright Eyes, and LOTS of different types of rock: 3 doors down, Oasis, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews Band, Jimmy Eat World, Deadsy, Orgy, Elton John, Our Lady Peace, Phantom Planet, Yellowcard, Something Corporate, RHCP, Green Day.... and then random bands like They Might Be Giants. plenty of pop-punk stuff too (Bowling for Soup, NFG). *and* I'm in love with the original Rent soundtrack. *whew* that's all... for now.

Current favorite songs: anything by Less Than Jake, Punk Rawk Show by Mxpx, and As Lovers Go by Dashboard Confessional.

Hey, what's wrong with modern country? There's some dang great singers out there, some more traditional than others. Some of my favourites are:7

Garth Brooks (ok, not as country as he was in his first few albums, but still great)
Brad Paisley (youngster playing for the old crew)
Terri Clark (this woman is the most underrated singer in the world, and she keeps it real country. Check out her latest album, Pain To Kill. Superb)
Randy Travis
Lonestar (ok, ok, pretty pop-country)

But there's also the old guard who I like aswell. Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr (I've never heard much from Sr.).

More people should listen to country. It gets too much stick from people who have never even given it a chance.
