It keeps freezing all the time. Should I reinstall the system software? It's kinda annoying.

I have Mac OS 8.6 (please don't ask why I haven't upgraded), and I ran a virus scan....whats a defrag. I've reinstalled before....it isn't that hard!
ANd I've had it for....about 2 or 3 years.

defragement is a program that straightens up the files (sets them in order) on the hard disk (make sure you close all but explorer running task before you do). it came with my Win98

I find most PC freezes/lags are caused by downloaded software junk running in the background eating up memory, corrupted virus scanners hogging processor time, or corrupted device drivers, particularly video. Try checking these first. If that doesn't work, it may be easier to reinstall rather than hunt down the culprit.

Overheating or a faulty power supply might also the be cause, I know that it was for me.
