Freezing on map!?!

I am running Baldur's Gate II on an AMD 1.4 with 512 Megs of Ram and a Gforce3 with Windows XP. Usually the map works just fine but every so often when I click on the map icon the whole computer freezes, and I have to hit the reset button. Anyway once it's happened the first time it happens every time I try to use the map in that area. Has anyone seen anything like this, and how did you manage to fix it? This is really starting to get old!!

Hi,

I know you are running the latest patch but are you also running the XP patch, i also have xp, but i don't have problems, but i've heard something from a XP patch so i thought that might help you out, i think you can find it on blackisle's website, not sure though

this is a confirmed bug, i believe. look on Baldurdash or use GLSetup (included with BGII, but on the internet) to try it. it has something to do with your graphics card. if you can't fix it, either don't use the map in that area, or just turn off your graphics card while using BGII.

Yes, I have the same problem!

This is my Third time around and I'm Playing Solo this time and have resently installed XP on my machine. What your saying is that you need the latest patch release of SOA or TOB and the lastest release of XP. But when I got to the Circus and then again in the Slave ship I had the same problems.

Can someone please a link on this so I can read about it and see what i can do about fixing this problem.

I think I may have figured out the problem...at least for me. It may have something to do with setting too many traps. I have three thieves in my party. (my character, yoshimo, and nalia) I guess the game adds a marker on the map fpr each trap, but doesn't remove the marker when the trap is sprung, eventually this will cause the map to freeze. So now that I may know the cause it still doesn't help me fix it. So more advice would be apreciated.
