First off, I'd like to say hi to everyone. I am new to this, so if I sound like a complete idiot-forgive me!! I have beaten BG1 and I'd like to play it again, but for some reason the game will not, no matter how I try or what path I take, let me go to Chapter 7. The furthest I can go is to Candlekeep revisted. After going through all that mumbo jumbo I go to BG and well, it's like I've never left! Is this normal? Are you only allowed to beat the game once? I even got TOTSC to see if that would make any difference, but it hasn't. Oh yea, and my saved game, the one right before I go to kick evil bro's booty, is no where to be seen. Also, the party that is brought to Ulgoth's Beard isn't my party! They are complete strangers! What's up with that? Any suggestion on what I can do to fix this? Thanks a bunch.

Welcome to the forum JoJo0808!!!

Sounds like it's a saved game bug or something is corrupted..have you tried going back 1 saved game and seeing if that works? Maybe rename the BG1 dir, and reinstall it, the copy over the saved games and see if that works?

Let us know.. anyone else that can help, please reply to this too!!!

Hey, And Welcome To The Board. The characters in the Ulgoths beard save ARE ment to be complete strangers, but if you load up your final save under the mission pack saves then it will take your characters to Ulgoths... As for the completing the game once bit, I think there is a bug in your game, maybe someone can find you a patch

If you haven't patched the Tales of the sword coast you might try that.

Other than that I can't think of anything that Ziroc hasn't already said. But then again I am not the most technically inclined on this board others may have more options for you. First try the patch though.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will try them all and see what happens. If nothing works, do you think buying a new BG will fix it? Would a new game be corrupted by the bugs in the old?

Welcome to the board!

You shouldn't have to buy a new game: if its worked once already and has somehow corrupted then all you need to do is make of a copy of your saved games folder (the path should be something like c:\program files\black isle\save), and uninstall BG.

Reinstalling from your existing copy should then do the trick.

However, you're better of looking for patch before resorting to that!
