So far this came is turning out to be kinda crap. I LOVED Divine Divinity. But boy did they change it in Beyond Divinity.

My What I Hate list so far LOL:

I hate that they put everything in a small square at the top right of the screen, your portrait, your spell/skill commands, potions, every frikken thing. I much preferred those things along a bar at the bottom of the screen. And yes, I know, you can use hotkeys, but I'd rather not. I mean what were they thinking? Making you move your mouse arrow allll the way to the top of the screen to look at inventory, use a potion, switch or use skill, etc. etc. Blah.

I liked that they have a zoom in and scroll this time around (didn't have that in Divine Divinity). But, with all the controls being at the top right of the screen in a small box, if you move your mouse, like, a millimeter to the right of the command box, you start scrolling quickly to the right. So I find myself scrolling when I don't want to scroll a LOT, and it gets frustrating, especially when you are in a fight and trying to take a potion.

Not thrilled at the DeathKnight they stick you with right off. In Divine Divinity you were a single character. I don't mind in games if you get NPCs you can CHOOSE to take or not, I hate when you get stuck with one though. Maybe in the end, the story re the DeathKnight will be something good or something, and I'll be glad I had him with me. Time will tell re that I guess.

There apparently, at least in my game, is a Battlefield Bug. I was able to do the Battlefield level 1 with no problem, but since then, no matter how many Battlefield keys I get, I cannot go down into any dungeons even though they are unlocked. I read on a few forums others having the same trouble, so it must be a random bug, and I got it, and there are no new patches so I guess I just have to deal with it. Hopefully it won't make too much of a difference but I did like having it to help level up, sheesh. Bah. At least I can still go to the Battlefields and make use of the Merchants, just cant do any of their quests.

Heck I don't even know how to use any of my skills. I acquired for instance a Repair, and it worked in the beginning, now no matter what button I push I can't repair anything. Bug? Bah dunno.

I really hate the buy/sell screen as well, it's confusing and it just sucks to me.

I'm hoping the game will get better, I'm not ready to give up yet. I do like the humor in it when they use it, and the voices are much better as well, albeit the speech is way too slow re some people you talk to.

Anyone else play this game before? If so, your thoughts?

i tried, but found it too clunky to use. maybe if i'd stuck with it longer, it would've grown on me... but i ran out of patience.

it's just too bad the icky interface interfered with the gameplay.

OMG somebody posted! LOL, finally!

Yeah, thanks Vesselle. So I guess I'm not the only one turned off with their new interface. Did you like Divine Divinity? I did. This one though...

I'm still chugging along with it though so far, but I'm still not happy or having much fun. I think it's just pure orneryness at this point on my part keeping me going so I can just finish it. I've spent too much time in it now to give up, well, yet anyways. Who knows what may come up next!

I liked divine divinity a lot

beyond divinity I didnt finish.

It was not very interesting, it also wasnt funny. Divine divinity was funny ... in an english as a second language sort of way. The large amount of dialogue in beyond divinity just made me glaze over it

A bunch of imps in a maze talking. It just didnt draw me in.

I enjoyed the orginal, but also gave up on "Beyond", for the same reasons others have listed.

There are too many games worth playing to waste time playing bad ones.

I've never played Divine Divinity, but I can say this -- one of the best theme songs ever!

Well I'm thinking I'm gonna go the way as everyone else here re Beyond Divinity...i.e, just quitting the stupid thing.

I thought to finish it cause I had already gone so far, and I'm in Act 4 now, the last Act. But after playing it today (haven't played in a week), I found myself just frikken bored. Ah another battlefield key! Oh, not so exciting in the battlefield dungeon.

I'm so sick of games where you pick up zillions of gold pieces, but never find anything good to buy. Games should make it worth your while to religiously gather every GP you find. Not a necessity mind you, cause that'd suck, but have it to where if you do save enough GP, you can buy some high end items somewhere.

And now, in this "Academy" in Act 4, I failed to pick up this pickaxe. And from what I can tell from the walkthroughs I've read, that's the only way through this broken wall to continue. I don't have the pickaxe. Do not recall if I previously picked it up or not. Maybe I did and tossed it, or sold it. I can't find it anywhere on the ground though in the Academy. So you know what? Screw it. Sick of it, not having fun anyway, was only wanting to finish it just so I could say I finished it.

Cause it irritates me when I read posts ragging on a game, from people who only played the demo, or only played a small part of a game. Sometimes games can start off appearing sucky, but get much better once you continue on. Planescape Torment is one of those games. I read so many bad posts about it from people who quit before they even got out of the initial tomb area.

But with Beyond Divinity, I dunno. I've played 3 out of the 4 Acts, and am not impressed at all. If anything it just pisses me off more than not. I can't see Act 4 being some giant improvement all of the sudden, and from what I've seen so far, it ain't.

So yeah I may just quit this shit. Sad too, as I so really enjoyed Divine Divinity. Divine Divinity definity is a game I'd recommend to anyone.

Yeah Stamar, Divine Divinity had some really good humor in it. They tried to do the same in Beyond Divinity, but the voice acting is terrible, everyone talks extremely slow, it's irritating as hell. And at first I liked the Imp voices, they sounded kinda cool, but then as you continue to play the game, you start to recognize every creature/person's voice as the same person, i.e., you can tell who is voicing who. I'd say 3-4 people do the voices in the entire game. Probably 2 LOL. Ugg.
