Okay I just got PS: T last Wedsday and I'm in the Clerics Ward, and I'm curious.... how many factions are there? Who do I talk to to join? And where are those said people at?

I already know that you can be a Godsman or a Sensate and I know where they are but I didn't get a manual with the game and it would really help me if someone could answer my questions.

There are 15 factions in sigil, im not sure how many you can join. I think you can be a dustman (If your into that whole death-worshipping thing). Harmonium would be cool, but I dont think its possible. Mercykillers are Psychos, I HATE them, and you cant join them as far as I can find. I think you can be an indep.

No you can't join the Mercykillers or the Harmonium. You can also join the Dustmen and the Anarchists (a faction that believes in total CHAOS). I recommend the Godsmen, since they have some good items and interesting quests (one of which is related to the overall plot).

I though you coudnt join the MKs or the harmies, hate them anyway. All threat and no force.

Havent done the godsmen, but the sensates can make certain things easier if you join them. If you dont you can apparently bluff your way in.

First join the Sensates and complete your buisness with them

Then join the Godsmen to take advantage of their item (and do their quests for xp )

My main PC right now is part of the Chaosmen faction, and I just stepped into the Civic Festhall........do you think i should join the Sensates, or will this detract from any benefits of being part of the Chaosmen?

Also, is it easy to switch factions thereafter (i.e. to the Godsmen and the Anarchists?)

There are benefits to joining the Chaosmen (other than getting through the Tenement easier)? They have no store, etc. I have always felt that they were worthless (if someone knows different, please let me know).

To get into another faction once you belong to another one, just do the quests to join, and they will tell you that you have to abandon your previous faction. Just agree, and you will join the new faction. However, once you leave a faction, you can't rejoin, so make sure you milk it for everything it's worth (items, spells, etc.) before leaving.

I have never joined the Anarchists, so I can't tell you what benefits they get. The Dustmen have a few spells and items (of a necromantic nature) that are useful, mainly the minor and major enbalming spells. The Chaosmen have no major benefit that I know of. The Godsmen have great items, but all of the spells they offer are available elsewhere (I still love them, though). The Sensates have decent spells, and some decent items, but the biggest benefit is the free access to the sensoriums. This includes the sensoriums that you need to access to complete the game (the private ones), so even if you don't join them, bluff your way in.
