Interesting Predicament.

I am currently a member of both the Thieves Guild and Fighters Guild, as well as the Imperial Legion. I want to attain top rank in all factions. I currently need to get the code book for my fighters guild, but that is contrary to my thieves guild position. Is there anyway around this? Am I able to get the book without being ousted from the thieves guild? Can I possibly pocket the book from Sottilde? Or will I simply have to find a way to get the book from her, lose standing in the thieves guild (possibly all trace of membership), and have to talk to one of the head hanchos to regain standing? Please help!! I'm confused. (So are you, probably, after reading what I just wrote)

taunt her until she attack you, kill her and get the book

or

steal it from her.

or

talk to her about the book, then bribe her, then talk to her about the book again.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have just had the strangest Elderscrolls experience ever. I had just started a new character in hopes of discovering a loophole for the above stated issue, when as I was grabbing the dead tax-collectors stuff and running from Kwama Foragers (bare bones shirt on my back character you see) I here this yowling and screaming. Apparently some Wizard had managed to create some sort of spell that fortifies the acrobatics stat by 1000(yes that is the correct # I double checked to be sure) His name was Tarhiel. Indeed "was" Tarhiel, for his descent proved fatal. I got a nice longsword with the bolt effect and some robes and his journal. Ummm. . . just wondering if he is some kind of easter egg that anyone may run into? Or has anyone else encountered the mage in question? Or more definitively his corpse? Just curious.

Kakero Her disposition is at 100 with me. She won't give me the book because I am thieves guild as well.

everybody has encountered the mage, his sword is good for newbie. the scrolls is dangerous without slowfall spell.

I managed to steal it from her with my thief, but even with sneak in the 90th and security in the 60th, took 5 or 6 reloads.
With my fighter, I bribed her to get it, but I wasn't allowed to join the thiefs guild after that.

I was wondering if it's possible to get to the top of the fighters guild without doing those "dirty" quests ( the codebook and the false bounty on the woman in the warehouse in Sayed Neen ), because when you're promoted to swordsman ( IIRC ), you can work for Percius Mercius and isn't he able to promote you the rest of the way by doing his quests?

If you're fighter/thief, do the thieves guild quests first,

The falling mage never fails to puzzle everybody who first sees him. One of the best plot twists in Morrowind.

Don't try those scrolls!
