I just got the special ability to change into the Slayer, and I'm wondering the benefits(fairly obvious) and penalties.

benefits: great strength, and other stats, great AC, great damage and thaco.

penalties: -2 reputation each time you shift, and if you stay in that form for too long, you will DIE!!!!

not worth it IMHO!

Yep, transforms you into a killing machine. Though I'd say that your Kensai would be able to handle most things without reverting to Slayer form.

Still, It can be handy in tight places, if you dont mind a reputation loss.

All the good amd bad stuff have already been mentioned, so I just want to say that I wouldnt change to the slayer too much. Cause your rep will drop very much, and as said, you will die after a while.
My tip: change only to the slayer when it is absolutely no other option.

Since my AIM has been off, I've been playing a lot more BG2.

I have one more question: Can you choose when to change back, or are you stuck in "Slayer" for a certain amount of time?

No no, you can turn back to your 'original' form at any time, just as easily as you can turn to the Slayer.
