Let's say you 'rented' a room in the Mage's guild, and you wanted to stash all your unused or special items in that room. Can you place items on desks/tables and/or the floor without them eventually disappearing? I have some pretty important stuff (like one of those keys for the Daedric shrines), and I don't want to lose them. I appreciate any helpful responses.

Not sure about that but I would recommend you to get a house plug-in to stash you stuff. I had the Balmora House plug-in and it works wonderfully.

If your want a safe place to stash your stuff, choose an empty barracks or guest room area. For instance, in the Balmora temple, the side room by the entrance makes a nice area to stash some items. All of those chests/tables are safe.

Or in the mage's quild, to the right of the stairs going down, there are some boxes and sacks where you can hide your items.

Or in the fighters' guild. There's a room in the basement before you get to the 2 trainers which has 3 beds and 3 chests.

Or in the temple, when you've maxed out the 2 above-mentioned chests, head past the 2 shrines in the temple, towards the stairs leading upstairs. Stop in the alcove to your right, before you reach the stairs, and there are 3 boxes where you can store your items... good for enchanting and you need your money back from the enchanter in the temple.

1. Spend 80.000 on enchanting
2. Give her 3-4 daedric items to get your money back
3. Enchant another item
4. Give her 3-4 ebony items to get your money back, etc..

easy!

Be very careful when putting stuff into other people's chest. Once your stuff is kept in the chest, those items will be considered owned by the owner of the chest. If you are caught trying to retrieve your items from that chest, you will be fined.

And also another thing about this ownership problem... if you ever caught stealing in shops or other places, all your possesions which was previously kept in other people's the chest might be considered stolen and confisticated by the guards. Kind of sucks if you ask me.

I think the best way is to lockpick a room in the tavern and place your stuff there. I think items placed in the tavern rooms (which you normally rent for 24 hours) will not have their ownership changed.

...I hope you get what I am trying to say here...

I have dropped stuff on floors and even on the ground outside and it's always still there when I go back. However, since I am a member of the Fighter's Guild, there is a room downstairs with two beds and a couple chests. I have been stashing stuff in there and I haven't had any problem going back and retrieving stuff.

All the chests I mentioned are not owned by anyone. That's why I suggested them.

you can dump your stuff at the silt strider ports and it wont dissapear as well as you can drop it in any clan house youve befreinded without it dissapearing. i did it in the bottom room of the imperial cult place and never lost a thing. and i had it left in front of people.
