Sooner or later, We shall all die, Never to question, As to how or why. A Funeral Dirge! The following characters have permission to be absent because of troubles...
The following characters never asked to leave (As I recall, I may be wrong, I'm easily confused you know...) and are going to need one helluva explanation! (These are the people who haven't posted since chapter 1)
No characters have been killed as of yet. Though we've had some interesting predicaments with green-eyed elves, ferrets, kobolds, and crazy people getting Murdock messed up in their fricking love affairs. Maybe it's better to wipe the slate clean and start anew. >>---->Murdock<----<< "Ahhhh..." ~She groped for common words.~ "H-home is bor... Bore... Boring." ~She nodded.~ "Home is boring. N-n-nothing..." ~She hissed, trying to pronounce the word.~ "Youneick? U... Uneick... Unique!" ~She smiled.~ "Language no unique, ee... Events no unique. And no hu-man have funny ears at home." ~She laughed, and then her brother called.~ "Mithia! Khil Nimaqua!" ~The young woman sprung forward and took the reigns of her small gray horse. The creature was obviously aged, more white than gray, but it still tossed its head as she sprung upon its bare back.~ ~Mia circled the horse around and sent her horse at a high-stepping trot towards you. Reigning the creature in she looked down at you curiously.~ "Erran r-ide... Erran ride roch? Erran ride... H-h... Horse? Erran ride horse?" ~She looked back to her brother.~ "Or Erran ride in... Wag... Wagon? Erran ride horse or ride in wagon?" [ 02-17-2002: Message edited by: Killing Spree ] |

"A horse is fine with me. Are you offering to let me ride with you, or do you have another horse?" IC>>>I'm still with you, Spree! I have a test tomorrow in Accounting that I am going to fail because I don't study, but damnit, this is more important! ![]() |

(ooc: ![]() ![]() ~She shook her head, stroking the beast's neck.~ "Nimalqua is strong... No en-uff... No enough for two. Erran ride Ruinem." ~She took a whistle on a string around her neck and blew shrilly three times. A sturdy chestnut steed lifted his head from grazing and clopped decisively over to her. She took the horse's reigns and handed them to you.~ "Careful! Ruinem is very... Spirited? Yes, sprited." ~The sorrel stallion's nostrils were flared as he eyed you warily.~ ~Cal called out in curiousity.~ "You two ready to ship out?" ~He looked back and yelped.~ "Ai! Ruinem! Mia, are you so sure about that? I don't want to get our friend killed!" [ 02-17-2002: Message edited by: Killing Spree ] [ 02-17-2002: Message edited by: Killing Spree ] |

Murdock / Erran
"Well, I guess now I gotta show I'm tough, eh? Alright!" Murdock jumped up onto the horse's back and readied himself for a supposed crazy ride. If this was indeed an elven-bred horse, it would not throw it's rider, although holding on would be his job. The horses took off immediately, and much to Murdock's surprise, the ride was not jerky and unbearable. Yet swift were her hooves and the air blew at his face so hard he had to close his eyes to stop the sting of the wind. He cried out to the others, not knowing if they could even hear him, "I wish I knew where you were taking this poor old thief!" |

~Mia laughed, galloping easily only a little bit ahead of you. She turned her head back around to face you, yelling out a single word.~ "Rhykatam!" ~She then turned back to her effortless ride.~ ~When the sun started going down, Cal pulled up the pace-setting wagon, and Mia came to a stop, blowing her whistle again. Your horse huffed and came at a defiant walk over to Mia. Cal yawned, leaping out of the wagon and unhitching its four beasts. Mia leaped off Nimalqua and motioned for you to do the same. Cal stepped over to the both of you.~ "Rhykatam is still about a day away. You can take the road any way you wish from there Murdock." ~She nodded, slipping the light bridles off Nimalqua and Ruinem. The two horses eagerly turned off to graze and drink at a nearby creek. Mithia looked to her brother.~ "Celebring... Khil menel? Lome kemen dae. Melyanna alda." ~He shook his head with a reassuring tone.~ "Kemen lad du, Mithia." ~Mithia bit her lower lip and surveyed the darkening landscape. Finally she slowly nodded an accepting head. She then turned to her brother quickly with question.~ "See trees tom... Tommorow?" ~He smiled.~ "Yes, we'll see trees tommorow on the way to Rhykatam." ~He looked on as the sun sunk behind the distant hilly horizon.~ "But for now, we should rest." ~He looked to you apologetically.~ "I'm sorry we can't press on, but after your attack friend..." ~He cringed." ~She chuckled with a darkness you'd never heard from her.~ "Cal afraid... Afraid of the dark!" ~She dodged her brother's lunge and flew up the nearest tree, sprawling out rather comfortably.~ ~He shook his head.~ "By crikey she's learned to taunt me." |

Murdock
When he heard of the news that he was being led to Rhykatam, he did not feel overjoyed. What was there for a thief? He only knew that Rhykatam was east of Talever, along the Bulwark river. Little else did he know. How was the police force there? How rich and stupid were the people? How nice were the ladies? These two elves were taking him as far as that city, then dumping him to fend for himself once again. Where he would go after that, he did not know. Maybe he should make some quick friends and make use of their knowledge of the area. Maybe he should join a group for protection in numbers. He would think more on it later. |

~When you awoke you saw Mia with a very troubled expression on her face. She turned around and hissed, motioning for you to stay down. She hunched beside you.~ "Stay still Erran! Don't move a muscle." ~Her speech was impeccable, though she haden't gotten quite rid of her accent. When you inquired about this she informed you she'd found an old tome in the knothole of the tree she'd slept in. Her eyes averted warily, she was a bundle of nerves. Her voice never rose above a whisper as she gave an explaination.~ "Last night a band of orcs came through and... And s-set fire to the wagon." ~She looked at the ground taking a deep shaky breath.~ "A-all the horses ran e-except for Ruinem... He's down by the creek. And they..." ~A tear fell down her cheek.~ "They killed Cal... When he wouldn't give up the location to Rostil... So they - they hung him." ~She looked fearfully around.~ "We've got to go... Fast! The- the orcs are still here..." |

Murdock
He heard her say that her brother had died at the hands of Orcs. He could not beleive it. Why had he not been wakened sooner? He could have helped. Cal and Mia had saved his life the night before, and now he could do nothing to pay back the debt! 'Yes he could', he thought to himself. Mia was now alone, and out of her league in this adventurous world. He had to help her. Fiddling around for his blade Zahara, and draping his cloak tightly about him,An elf can at least move more silently than even a trained human thief, so he needed the extra protection, they both sneaked their way through the area. Mia was leading the way, Erran close by behind her. He was watching thier rear trail as Mia used her keen eyesight to scout ahead for danger. Secretly, Murdock hope to find an Orc or two. His extra Hide in Shadows ability could get him near enough to one to avenge the blood of his fallen comrad. Yet, he also did not want to endanger Mia. She seemed too young to be having this sort of trouble already. Where would she go and what were her plans now that her hero and brother was no more? Quietly, they continued to creep ahead, always wary of the slightest noise that might be the enemy. |

~The two of you passed the swinging corpse of Celebring. His body was illuminated by a giant bonfire that was onee the wagon, orcs all crowded around it. You could easily see Cal had died struggling. Mia averted her gaze, keeping her mind on the task at hand. You could hear her quiet mutterings.~ "Khil men menel Celebring." ~Taking a deep breath, she pressed on. In a moment you could hear the soft rushing of the creek. Ruinem stood edgily, ears flicking to and fro. Mia held out her hand.~ "Ruinem! Khil!" ~The once mindlessly obnoxious stallion cowered as he stepped quietly over to Mia. She stroked the steed's nose for a comforting moment, then leapt silently onto the horse's back. She gestured quickly to you.~ "Come Erran, swiftly!" |

Erran
Taking another quick look around, he followed suit and jumped up onto Ruinem, behind Mia. He still had his short sword out, and was ready to pounce off of the horse and defend Mia at any moment, if the steed proved not fast enough to out-run any trouble. But...why the hell would he do that? He is a thief that only cared for himself! Well, maybe it was because they had saved his life and he felt indebted? What a life...First, seduced by a Macaderian, now the valiant hero wanna-be to an elf maiden. What would be next??? And why did he continue to talk to himself??? OOC>>>Spree...I am just posting to what you give me to react to, as I do not want to create a scene opposite of any plans you already may have. Yet, if you want me to take the initiative and route the story in my own fashion, let me know. Until I have that permission, I shall continue to see you as the story teller and not redirect the path. You are doing a fantastic job! ![]() |
