Hi all,
I am experiencing a strange problem with bg2. When I start a dialogue, I see the text on bottom of screen and the text is also spoken out - as soon as I click on "continue" however (or give an answer) to go on with the dialogue, the text does appear but the speech is no longer spoken out (ie there are no more speech sounds for the rest of the conversation). When I start a new conversation this happens again. I don't assume it's normal that I hear spoken speech only the first part in the dialogue??? I first thought it was the on-board VIA Audio chipset, but an SB64 PCI does the same thing (so forget about the sound-card or drivers). Further specs are: Microstar K7T Pro, Athlon 700 Mhz, 96 MB of RAM, Asus V6600 Geforce 256 graphics card. I did a full installation. Could anyone tell me whether this is normal or what could cause this problem? Thanks a lot! |

What you are experiencing is normal. A} Not all the dialogues are accompaneyed with audio B} Not all the audio comprises of the full text c} If you click continue sometime (most) the audio is dicontinued

Geez, it's hard enough to sit through all those movies and dream sequences without being able to 'fast forward', imagine how long the game would take if we had to sit through vocalization of every conversation, too!

The game has no audio for dialogue strings which call a variable, such as the protagonist character's gender or race. Would you want the programmers to have dialogues for every possible variable in the game? No, of course not, it'd make the game even bigger.
