sound problems HELP!!!

I have a technical problem with my game and I'm wondering if anybody can shed some light, maybe you've had this problem as well.

My computer is set up to handle BG2, i've played it off and on for over a year. something that is bugging me though is the sound. The voices for the characters sounds all muffled, take for instance at the beginnning of the game when Imoen comes to free you, her voice sounds as if she is actually in that metal room, far away.

This continually happens throughout the game, and ive played with different configurations, even with all sounds but the character voices set all the way down, and still it gets muffled.

any technoweenies out there who might be able to tell me if my sound card just can't handle the game? because 30% of the time i get crystal voice sound, but the rest sounds like its coming from inside a tin can,

I had this Problem too, everything seened echoy. I just changed the sound settings to a lower setting and it sorted it out.

When you get good sound are you outside? because when you are in dungeons or buildings higher sound settings make the voices echo and it sounds awful.
