Need help on defeating balor (Chapter 5)

He seem to be immune to both magic and physical attack. How do I beat him? My main character is an archer. Rest of the party is minsc, adoemon, aerie, the thief-like girl that asked me to save her fortress in C2, and the druid girl I freed during C1.

Hmm, I casted all wonder spells(protections, chants, haste) on my guys, and as soon as he came in, I wacked him with my weapons. Make sure you have +3 or +2 items to hit him.

I casted haste, chant, defensive harmoney, monsters, etc. And equipped with +2 or +3 weapon, yet I did 0 damage to him. What am I doing wrong. The only method I found working was to turn into a slayer. When i do that it says I'll lose part of myself. What does that mean? Do I lose a point in the stats or something else? Is it worth it?

Tried casting breach/pierce magic? That may get rid of some of your problem, though I'm not sure how much magical protection the game gives a Type VI Demon. I know you need +3 weapons to hit, +2 alone won't do it. And your spells should work, he just has very high magic resistance. Pierce magic will lower this, as will having a 12th level Mage or above cast the spells.

I won't make any assumptions about your equipment, just tell you how to get +3 weapons for everyone possible [img]smile.gif[/img]

In Spellhold you picked up at least one +3 Staff. Equip Jahera ("the druid girl" from Chapter 1) with this and make her memorize IronSkins. Have Aerie memorize "Free Action" -- she will cast this spell on Jahera, who will be able to damage the Balor. Do you have any potions of strength and/or speed? Give them to Jahera, too. Iron Skins lasts for up to 9 hours, so cast this spell first. I think Free Action doesn't last very long (measured in rounds or turns, not hours) so cast it last, having Jahera drink the potions in the middle.

Can any of your mages cast Enchanted Weapon? How about Phantom Blade? Either of these will be able to damage the Balor.

Do your mages know Melf's Minute Meteors or Mordekein's Sword? These can damage the Balor too, this time from a distance, which is even better.
Anomen ought to be able to cast "Celestial Hammer" (or "Divine Hammer" or something) which, if he's high enough level, might be +3. What level is he?
Go talk to the Duregar (three dwarf-like guys down at the bottom of the map, to the left of the bridge) and see what spells they have available. I can't remember their stock off hand, but I know they have some decent stuff.

anyway I turned into the slayer for that battle so it might help. although you lose 2 reputation points for that (no prob if your evil but it sounds like your doing a good party)
