I was just wondering if anyone had used or was using the 2004 OpenGL fix?

I didn't knew of this patch's existance until now but I have this little graphics glitch.

I have no intention to register just to download one little file but since there's a how-to-patch-it-yourself-description, I'll save the text and apply it a soon as I install Wizardry again.

Thanks!

But there will be some time before I reinstall Wiz8. I hope X3 will arrive here tomorrow and Oblivion a month later...

They are graphical API's. Directx is from microsoft and can handle sound too and is standard in windows, OpenGL is industry made. Develepors decide which they will use and work from there.

Is there any difference in the gameplay or visuals?

There can be but it's not huge. Both can do basically the same things.
