I can't get out of the upper branches. I am currently near a lift and a sign that says "second bough." When I use the lift, I die. Is there a rope I need to use to climb down or what?

Thanks

Near the lift there should be something to use (like a wheel iirc), clicking on it will call the lift.

And Welcome economist!

Thanks for the welcome.

The lift is there, but when I get on it and use the level to lower, I end up getting crushed.

Hmm, strange. Maybe you can try the following procedere: Use the wheel (lift leaves), when the wheel stops, use it again, and then jump into the void (with the lift coming). For me that works as a shortcut, don't know if it helps you (since it sounds bugged).

You might be standing too close to the edge of the elevator "car" when you use the lever. This happened to me once in Trynton, and came as quite a surprise. Try standing farther back in the car before operating the wheel.

There is a second exit to Trynton from the Rattkin tree... you could use that one...

I had this problem once. I wrote a mail to Sir-Tech and they told me that the game could be corrupted and that it is the best way to install it again with the latest patch. I had the same problems with the return to portal spell, too,
so I made a new install and it never happened to me again.

If you're gone not too far in the game, IMO it could be better to make a new install to avoid possible problems later.

Speaking of portal spells, I noticed a problem if I crossed too many boundaries in the same session. One time, we ported down to the general, appeared outside his door and got crushed. Another time we buzzed over to Trynton (ground level) and found ourselves in the river. In each case, I'd been playing for some time and had been going back and forth to many locations. Quitting the game completely and running it again cleared things up. I suspect this is related to some sort of memory leak or cache problem.

On the other hand, elevator problems (and sometimes climbing up to the Crypt Keepr's cave) seems to be based on where you're standing at the time. I always save before taking the platform down to Z'Ant, because we've been crushed more than once there.

If you click twice when placing the Hook, that's when it dumps you. (like the rope going into the Tree in Trynnton)
