I'm nearing the end of Wizardry 8 for the third time. I ran into something odd though. I'm at Ascension Peak and have just encountered my "daughter" from Al-Sedexus. In the first game I definetly recall talking to her and my male character having something to say. However in the last two games there is no conversation, just a battle. The only thing I can think of is that in my last two games I created the T'Rang - Umpani alliance. I didn't pay close attention last game but this game the Rapax Prince is hostile as I approach the Rapax army at Ascension Peak. I assume it's getting close to him that triggers the fight which makes everyone else join in. All the other rapax are marked yellow to indicate they are neutral.

I think you may be on to something, it's something like that.

If you do the umpani-t'rang alliance after becoming templar, you will make the rapax hostile, and don't get the conversation.
If you don't do the alliance, and the rapax are still friendly to you, you get the speech. If you do the alliance before becomning templar, and keey friendly relations to the rapax when you're templar, the rapax army won't be at ascension peak. |

I'm wondering if you could become a Templar, kill Al-Sedexus, go through and take out the Rapax at AP then backtrack and form the alliance. I also wonder if it's at all possible to take out the Rapax prince at the away camp. He always flees whenever you free the prisoners and you don't see him again until AP. I'm wondering if dropping a portal location in front of him then teleporting as soon as you free the prisoners would help. Alternately I wonder if simply attacking him would work. |

spoiler
. . . . . . . the trigger for the away camp appearance has to do with the 3 items you are questing after. specifically, if you, at any time, carry 2 in your party inventory at the same time, then you trigger a whole host of events. some people like to bring them to the peak one at a time to avoid this. i, however, like all the fun combat that occurs.
