Last weekend I managed to reach Ascension Peak. The Rapax Area was easier than I had thought. I went back to Trynton to kill Don Barlone for the last artifact.
Filled up my stock with potions and other useful stuff . I think I skip the Rapax Away Camp because after this long time I want to come to an end. I spent too much time running around to earn money for potions and missiles. My party is Lvl 30 now. Up to now they chopped all enemies easily to pieces.
For the Souleater : IIRC RFS-81 is immune to Psionic attacks so I think I remove the weapons from the fighter and rogue because if they become insane they can kill my party with ease and I believe the android is good enough to kill that guy with the help of my most loved 'Canned Elemental' potions.
Unfortunatly I have no 'Sane Mind' artifact so I can only hope that works.
I'll will try that next weekend.

good luck, loudhy!

since you dont have magic, your items and bard's magic screen definitely wont be enough to prevent the souleater from getting some of you. dont forget that the marten's helm has a big (30%?) bonus to mental resistance, so that may help one of your other characters resist, too.

If the rogue and fighter have high strength then maybe even without weapons they may be a problem.

Don't know if this is a bug, but I've had RFS-81 go insane on me before lol and dplax is correct, if your rogue and fighter have high strength they can still manage to kill your lower HP characters even bare handed. (speaking from experience lol)

I think you can buy a ring from Crock that will cast the sane mind spell. I know one of the vendors sells this ring, I think it's Crock. It would be worth shopping around at Crock's or even Ferro's (if he's still alive) to see if they have one, before heading to the peak and facing soul eater.

The biggest problem I had with soul eater was it's turn coating spell, which I think is most people's problem with that creature lol Luckily I have always had one character with the sane mind spell or a couple of characters with rings that could cast the spell.

Maybe I'm wrong but...

I believe I have read or heard (one of the two) that a charcter that is resistant to a certain realm (like FIRE) can still be affected by a spell in that same realm (like FIREBALL). Even if someone has 100% resistance, a strong enough spell can still effect that character (e.g. RFS 81 at 100% MENTAL being hit with a level 7 Insane spell and then going insane). IS THIS TRUE???

Doesn't 100% MEAN 100%. Some monsters have numbers like 120%, 105%, and 110%!!! Does this me they absorb these attacks??? What is wrong?!?!? I'm probably wrong, but IF I'M RIGHT, what is the point of having 100% resistance anyways???

An YEAH, the TURNCOAT spell is the biggest problem against the Souleater.

All resistances you or monsters have got are also level dependant, so against a critter with 100 fire resistance and level 21 a level 16 characters fireball wont have any effect probably, but a level 26 characters might have. And also powercast can help. And later on you might also find monsters with resistances over one hundred.

I've just met some. At lvl 16 there was this group in the Rift of 7 beserkers and 2 warlocks. The warlocks were lvl 16 and resistences for Fire + one other I don't remember off hand, maybe Air were 115 - eveything else was 90. Is this normal, or just bad luck?

AFAIK monster resistances are always the same for a monster with the same name. And it is normal for rapax to have high fire resistances. That is why blizzard and freeze flesh are one of the best spells in that area.

Your own resistances can rise above 100%, it just doesn't show on-screen. In fact, if you have too much Divinity Resistance (or was it just Divinity skill?, using a certain robe and other artifacts), the number goes above 255% and starts over at 1%!!! Some call this a wrap-around bug. It's happened to one of my Bishops. It also can happen with your speed I have heard.

I recommend disabling the best fighters for Souleater, but I only had a problem with him once or twice. I run up, using Chameleon to get as close as I can, and melee. I always have someone with Cure Insanity, though. I never disarm anymore. Also, he doesn't always use Turncoat, so you can reload and try again if you get a death.

Update on current party: my 4-party of Fighter (formerly Rogue for 16 levs), Monk, Ranger and Bishop has become extremely powerful. Levs are 18-21. No RPCs. The only death allowed was the Rogue against Gregor. (I know there is no penalty for dying in this game, but there was in earlier Wiz versions). We are about to go to Rapax Castle but may make a side step to tackle the Sorceress temple first. That battle is one of the hardest.

No, some monsters exist with different levels (for example, Rapax Warlocks can be level 22 and 25). And the higher level one have higher resistances. IIRC it was the level 22 warlocks that have 105% water resistance, 135% fire resistance, and 120% in anything else. With high powercast, i killed them with spells only in one game, without using water spells, just to see if it can be done.
