Help - can't go in Umpani base!!

Hey all...
I had this problem like 2 years ago but I forget how I fixed it....Whenever I try to enter the Umpani base camp my computer totally locks up and I have to manually reset it. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling with a different set of CDs and also patching with the 12/23/02 patch, but no dice....anyone have any ideas??

Dunno if this will help....

I find that my computer takes a while to "recover" after loading a new area (or a saved game). That is, there is a lot of hard disk crunching and graphic "stuttering" until it finally sorts itself out (say, up to 60 seconds) and you can move freely again.

This seems to take longer in an area where there are lots of other NPC's, like Arnika, Lower Marten's bluff and - you guessed it - the umpani base.

Maybe if you hang on for a while before entering the base your computer won't lock up. Maybe....

Also, there are some settings around how pretty the 3d world looks and how it performs. It might be an idea to play around with these too.

Make sure you have the latest Directx installed. Tone down all graphics and video settings and then re-enter the zone. If it still locks up, then it's more than likely a problem with your game.
