I found out by accident you can walk past the 'door keeper' in the Rat Maffia's headquarters, get the key and both treasure chests, and leave again by walking past him again, sideways. Takes a while, you only move about an eighth of an inch a minute.
BUT, I'm wondering if its worth it: does one gain anything by being nice to the rats, or is it OK to just off all you can? What are the consequences? Am also unclear whether to accept the 'check' Ratus Ratus tries to give... Am thinking of restarting, now that I have a clearer idea of how the game works, so any input on early stage stuff very appreciated! Oru |

SPOILERS:
/ / / / / // / / / // / / // / // / / // / / / // You can simply tell Milano Calzone "Dark Savant" when he asks who sent you, and he should get out of the way without you having to squeeze past him thus allowing you to pick up the breeder key without incident. If the 'check' you speak of is the bank robbery note, don't use it. It will simply make Lorrac aggressive and you will be forced to kill her and her guards. There is no point to this, as the vault and the personal storage can easily be accessed without disposing of them. Also, think about killing Don Barlone, or pickpocketing him for the Cane of Corpus, and the Astral Dominae (if you don't wish to pay for it). If you have a fairy ninja, the cane of corpus is the finest weapon you will ever see, with massive damage potential and fantastic chance of status effects. Yep! I definately agree with Charmy, but you can also kill Don Barlone right away if you wish. The downside of that is that you'll occasionally meet up with a couple of ratkin eliminators and possibly some goonds together who will try to kill you.
I myself waiting til I was around level 14/15 and then killed him. at that point, you can kill any of the razuka you might meet without breaking sweat.

All the parties i've run through have had a fairy who studies some kind of magic until she has the stats for ninja, the parties have all been able to handle Borlone and all the goons by the time she's ready for the cane. I don't know if that's possible without importing, haven't tried creating a new party, the game's so much fun i haven't run out of configurations of imports.

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated. Had a fairy ninja as they were the coolest characers in Crusaders, but my current one blew.
Started over with a fairy monk, and she's doing much better. Will I miss the ninja later, though? |

I killed Don Borleone at lvl 11. It was tough, but it's not impossible. My party was
Fighter Ranger Priest Mage Samurai Ninja Vi Domina Madras Superman is a must and guardian angel on your front row. Missile shield always helps. |

Oruboris, did you discard W-7 and starting from scratch? I haven't tried any char creating in W-8 yet, i'd been playing W-7 right up until i got 8, building parties with 100's in all their skills, stockpiling stuff to find out what they could bring, etc. and now i have so many starts and only 7 finishes, all with a fairy ninja. That Cane is absolutely my fave! If you can start as ninja, then switch right away to pure spellcaster other than alc, switch back to ninja when you get the cane. The rest of the party doesn't need to compensate much, esp. if you develop magic rigorously.

When I realized the levels were 'character based', not 'profession based', like Crusaders, I haven't given much thought to switching.
Used an old save to go after don barlone most were levels 9 and 10, had no trouble taking him out, getting cane, at which point fairy ninja rocked, of course. So started over again, new party, inc. fairy ninja, and I've been much more careful developeing this one. Am on the arnika road, so won't be long till back in Trynton. CC, here we come! Haven't imported a party, yet: finished crusaders twice with solo fairy ninjas, but for some reason, can't find them in the savegames. after I understand how 8 works a little better, planning to do it, though.
