one of the two temples in the eastern (southeastern?) wilderness. I know I should get
extra buff before I lame around out there but I just
wondered if anyone at level 14 cleaned out a temple?

Threre's just one temple, but the answer is yes.

--Buff your party first: armorplate, enchanted blade and magic screen.

--If you have the Chameleon spell or a Shadow Tincture, they can help you sneak up on both the siges outside and, more importantly, the Gang inside so that you start out close enough to them to get in some good spells. It also lets you get close enough to drive them insane (or whatever) before they can cast Summon Elemental.

--If you have a bard, use Siren's Wail (or Chaos Drone). I *love* driving the ladies insane - it doesn't work on the death guards, but it'll sure slow the other pesky spellcasters down. If I have to choose I use it on the High Priestess in the first round and the cultists in the next couple of rounds.

--Buy some Eye for an Eye potions - they're the handiest weapons against the gang in the temple. I used all my shekels to stock up on these before I headed there - I think I bought' 'em from Fuzzfas, but can't recall. They only last two or three rounds, but during those rounds you can watch the Temple Gang beat up on themselves by reflecting their spells back at them. This is about the 9th or 10th time I've fought this gang but the first time I've tried this. MAJOR fun! My two bishops alternated downing this potion throughout the fight.

--If you have canned elemental, use it. If you didn't get the drop on the cultists and the high priestess by sneaking in, your elemental(s) can fight theirs.

--Once you've incapacitated most of them, move in and let your tanks hack 'em to shreds.

A lot of people like to run up the stairs inside, which causes everyone to leave the temple. I prefer to drive them nuts, let them pound themselves with reflected spells and then hack 'n slash.

I like your techniques. Thanks. The outside
monsters are no big thing. But inside - is that
a Death Lord and a High Priestess or what? They
tore me a new one every time.

I haven't tried that temple, but when I was level 13, I destroyed the Death Lord in the Mountain Wilderness (in the cave with the 2 screaming heads) without any problem... if you have a bard, make sure she's using the Dulcimer of mending every round, even the first round because of the Death Lord's sword attack. Two Rounds of that will kill a few people.

My level 14 party was able to defeat the sorceress and her gang quite easily. I've generally found that skill levels and equipment are more important than character levels, so don't let your low level intimdate you (for reference, my now lvl15 party is finishing up ascension peak without too many difficulties).

First make sure that your party is equipped with a good number of items with resists (especially divine). Resistances are more important than armor class, since you will be fighting mostly magic casters.

Second, use magic screen before combat and element shield + soul shield in combat- again for the resistances boost. If you are below 80% in several resist categories, the cloud-type spells will rip apart your party. Death cloud is particularly bad and will definately by used by the death lords.

Third, while standing just outside the main temple room, cast hypnotic lure in the doorway. This will lure out the smaller sorceresses so you can fight them and their elementals before having to battle the death lords.

Hope these tips help.
