i wonder how you guys drive your party?
i use rightclicked mouse to aim up-down/left/right and the rest with keyboard; i get 'redraw objects' effect from time to time when aiming with mouse, but it is still most convenient for me; is controls only matter of convenience or there are ways to get bonus (speed, better performance or gd knows what else) from using 'specific' controls?

I use mouselook and the wasd keys for movement. Only advantage I've found in gameplay is that strafing around corners with your back to the wall is a huge help.
