2 questions really.
1.Is a Sword/Sheild combo more effective than a Dual Sword combo for a beserk fighter? 2.What stats are more effective to max first apart from Strength? I am wondering if Dex or Speed is the more effective to max first, which of the 2 has the greater influence on the fighter? I have read that single weilding with a sword gives a greater attack rating yet how does this translate into game terms? Is it noticable? With regards to the weapon loadout choices above of Dual or SS, is there a stat I should persue over the other due to this choice? That is if I dual, should I take Speed over Dex? |

Just my opinion...but I maxed out strength and vitality first on the fighter..for Damage and resistance to ill effects and max HP's.
I then increased dex and speed, of course my INT and PIETY suck wind..but hey he is just a fighter with no spells to worry about. |

I think INT helps with the number of critical hits your fighter gets.

I'd recommend maxing out speed first (besides strength). speed influences the number of attakcs and swings, improves initiative and improves AC. plus, both strength and speed give access to very useful expert skills.
besides, either lizardmen or dracons start with a very good vitality score and so it doesn't make that big a difference in amount of HP between say, 75 and 100 vitality. oh, and btw, fighters don't get critical hits, except with some weapons that have a kill %. but that's a fixed % and is not influenced by your stats.
