Won't effect the ending, although when you side with the Umpani you are needed to recruit an NPC in order to complete an quest, but otherwise it won't be needed to complete the game, and besides look at it this way......the less people you have in group the more xp each member gets.

the only way it affects your game, is in the exp distribution. each teammate gets more. nice, huh? but you know, you don't have to make 6 original teammates if you don't want to. that way you could take on an npc or two, if there were any you kinda regretted not bringing along. that's another angle!

you're familiar enough with it to know if you're comfortable doing it with a smaller group, so go for it!

hi! welcome to our little corner of dominus

feel free to post away to get your sig right, but if you like, after you get it the way you like it, you can delete it. LOL! i think we all went thru that, cuz it's the only way to test it. btw, it looks great!

i would definitely suggest filling out a full party of 6 pc's before recruiting any npcs. mainly cause they bail out on you in certain places. next time i play im firing vi. see if i can crank my pc's levels faster. besides, we kill bloody everything now no problem.

The experience bonus for having less characters is balanced by your encumbrance.

Anything not carried on a character is instead held in a party pool that's divided equally to all the characters burden ratings. I have 8 characters and have the dickens of a time keeping my mage light with 40lbs of sling stones at full stock.

Traveling with only 6 characters is 25% less stuff you can carry before having to return. Might not be THAT big an issue to some of you, but I've only got one spell caster and portaling back is a major pain in the butt.

I have also found if you recruit people, haul them around, then dismiss them, talk to the NPC, they will tell ya new info. Like Myles has recently told me about a bank robbery...

I only use my original 6. Of course the Umpani example above, and now some Mook escort mission has me with an extra character, but generally you don't need them.
