where you tell that one rattkin your searching for the Dark Savant, then he leads you to the Don. There is another room in that same building with a really tough lock. My question is....is there a minimum skill you have to have in order to pick it? I've been at this thing for more than a half hour and i'm getting teased so bad. I have 48 skill. Any insight into how lockpicking works, and if i have a chance would be great. thanks.

Its based also on the complexity of the lock, the more tumblers there are the harder it gets. Try to use Knock Knock spell or buy Knock picks as they can magical hold some of the tumblers in place then you have a easier chance to pick the rest.

~~hooptie~~
that thing gave me sooo much trouble. i had myles the rogue, my bard (with low skills) and my priest (LOL! she has the spell for it and high force!) we tried that stoopid thing with, what 7 or 8 tumblers? for like ever! ack! it kept repulsing any attempts. there would be one left and boom everything would go back down. double-ack! we were pretty much ticked after awhile, and were just gonna blow it off. but decided we needed to rest a bit, as we were still low on a few stats. so we rested a couple of hours, and decided to try one last time. this time, we had our priestess just force it right off the bat! it worked. we didn't blow up, we got the goodies and made fun of myles. (we do that alot as he's the only guy in our party and always messes up!) don't know if it was the resting, or the timing, or just that it had a really weak lockspring, but it made us smile! V***V

The key is to save in front of that chest.
Cast KNOCK, and try to get at least 4 tumblers (if not more). It took me about three or four tries, and I got four tumblers, then spent like 15 minutes picking at that lock before I finally got it for my rogue.
