Staff of ash *SPOILER*

I found the place where it is, i cant open the lock. Where is the key? I hope it is not the staff the High Priestess was using as i gave that to rafe and cant get it back. Ive been through much of the castle and killed Al-Sedexus and still cant find it.

You have to use the flamequencher wand on the lock.
Be ready when you do though because you have to fight right away.

I'm at the fiery cage, have the flamequencher but cannot open the lock with it to get the staff. I can equip it but the item stays red and won't let me "use" it except in combat. So I have tried to remain in combat while using it but no luck. 45 mins. have bit the dust. Is there some other trick, or is it another "you have to stand in exactly this position" thing?

yu cant use it per se, but you cant use it...

instead of clicking on the use key, go into your inventory, pick it up, exit the inventory with the item still on the cursor, and put it over the lock. and there ya go

Thanks, Gou. I've done that technique in other games where you hold an item over its target. Haven't seen it much in this one so it threw me off. Happy gaming! We all need it.
