Hi Everyone,
I have been thinking about creating some tutorilas for DC. What would you all find usefull? What do you think I should start with? I am happy to cover any part of the DC process, Creating Art, Creating Monsters & Items, Diferent Resolutions, etc... Jeremy ps. I am going camping for a few days so i will check this when i get back to see what you all think and give you an estimate of when i should get the first tutorials up. ------------------ The Cauldron - http://members.optusnet.com.au/~jeremy77/index.html |

That would be a good idea for those who don't have the FRUA experience and for the things that are new (for example, GDPL or whatever the scripting util is called) BUT...
Since its in the works so to speak, the god of creation (cocospud) may decide to change something which means you'd have to update. I'm not saying its a good idea, I think its a great idea (especially since I do have FRUA experience and have yet to be able to figure out how to edit spells), but it would have to modify to fit upgrades (so it'd be some work). i think this is a great idea.
![]() i also thought it would be cool if somebody documented the process of taking an idea for a story and turning it into a design. this could be aimed at the beginner or at the advanced crowd. as i write this, i'm thinking about the newsletters for unlimited adnventures. a lot of the material is applicable to dungeon craft. so, i volunteer to go through all 28 newsletters and cull them for articles with relevance to dungeon craft. there are a lot of articles, and i bet some of them are directly relevant, and many others could be adapted. many other gaming communities have sites where members can submit tutorials and articles. perhaps, ironworks would be willing to host these, that is if somebody writes any. just some ideas. ![]() ![]() ------------------ manikus www.geocities.com/manikus5/dc/index.html |

A guy called Sigrid wrote a tutorial recently that covers getting started with design editing. It is included in the current help file. He is planning on providing event info too.
More DC help would be a good thing. Strangely, I'm not well suited to writing how-to manuals for DC. I don't really use it like a designer does, I just write code and test it. Getting this info from someone who actually creates designs using DC is best. If you guys wish to include info in the help file, just send it to me and I can paste it in somewhere. If you're really ambitious, I can send you the help source file with info on how to edit it directly. We use a free help file editor called Cheetah. ------------------ CocoaSpud Dungeon Craft Development Team http://uaf.sourceforge.net |
