I just started playing BG1 for the first time after having played BG2 already. I was wondering if there's a way to have the game 'pause' when you're on the inventory screen. I've already gotten attacked 3 or 4 times while passing around arrows and potions, etc.

thanks

If you play a multiplayer game and assign control of all the characters to yourself (even if it's only one character), you should be able to pause.

Note: I've never gotten this to work for myself, but it's what I've been told multiple times.

What I have done is this: I went to sorcerers.net and downloaded a "Faster Baldur's Gate" mod. It's wonderful, just makes the game a little more like BGII without a huge mod. Another small option is it allows ammo stacking (up to some rediculous number like 500 or something) guaranteeing that you will not need to go to your inventory screen for ammo.

Pausing in the equipment screen shouldn't have been in BG II. When a huge dragon is looming over you and you switch from dual long swords and chainmail to a Two handed sword and platemail without missing a second... well thats just plain stupid.

@ Kyrvias: you can't change armor during battle, but yes, I agree with you.
It was probably changed in BG2 due to complaints and/or it would be impossible to read item descriptions for items that you found during your journeys unless you are in a town/district/tavern/etc

You know, Kyrvias, you're right! I never really thought of it that way. I'm accustomed to having that option available but it really doesn't make sense. Have to think ahead more!

thanks

Making huge equipment changes while paused during a battle is slightly absurd, but so is losing control of your frontline while your archers reload.

How on earth do you manage to go through all three ammo slots in one battle? I mean I have literally NEVER had to have my archer reload during a battle.

If your archer is carrying around a bunch of empty quivers it's pretty easy to see why he might have problems locating arrows

i keep extra as well of different types of arrows incase I run out. In order to not waste inventory space, put them in the ammo slots of another character who isn't using a bow or sling.
