I'm only a lvl 5 Monk right now, but I be plannin' ahead, see?
![]() If I would take the Weapon Master prestige class, would it be possible to take weapon focus on unarmed? If it is possible, then wouldn't that make a decent class? Another idea I have is to make him a Monk 20+/ Sorcerer 1/Dragon Disciple ?, since he has some pretty good bonuses. Thanks. EDIT: *SPOILER* Also, can I do anything with the dragon egg, except selling it to the Thayvian? [ 07-11-2004, 06:03 PM: Message edited by: uss ] |

Hey Uss,
Unfortunatly you can not make a weapon master with unarmed strike. You can take advantage of a bug and make a monk/weaponmaster with Kama's ( the bug is you still get the great attacks per round that a monk gets with his fists, but ins't supposed to get with weapons) Hope this helps.

It's no bug. Reading the (generally useless) manual, we do find a description for the kama.

So the manual is good for something ?
Good to know. I won't feel as bad now when using that character.

Ok.. Is it possible to dual wield Kama weapons? That'd be cool!

It's possible, yeah. With the right feats and equipment, a monk can get up to 10 attacks per round by the time they're level 18.
Quite litterally a flurry of blows. |

Hmm, but I'm still thinking whether to go for a Weapon Master or Dragon Disciple. Or how about Shadow Dancer? EDIT: Extra question: Do Monk levels after lvl 20 give any new Monk special abilities? Give me a yes or no answer - If they do, don't tell me what the abilities are, as I don't want to be spoiled. ![]() [ 07-12-2004, 09:37 AM: Message edited by: uss ] |

They don't gain new abilities, no. They simply improve upon the old ones.
Regarding the other combinations, RDD gives very high strength and a quick accessible Devestating Critical. Weaponmaster gives a better overall chance of scoring a critical in the first place, whereas for the Pale Master's bonusses it's mostly in the AC bonus and immunity to critical hits. The Shadow Dancer's far less combat-oriented and really does work best with a good sneak attack. As a side note, I've never been a fan of monks and absolutely love the Shadow Dancer prestige class (and hate true sight, naturally, unless it's my own). It doesn't have the same kind of combat deadliness though, in this case. |

So the Monk improves upon old abilities, eh? Correct me if I'm wrong, but he improves in 3 abilities - attack speed, movement speed and spell resistance, right?
The Shadow Dancer looks great, although as much as I remember about the Monk, he would attain some of the SD bonuses sooner or later anyway. |

to answer the spoiler question: not that I've ever found, and wish I had sold that egg cause otherwise it's just an interesting, albeit useless, item to be carrying around with you.
I love the monk, mainly cause I love watching my character kick the crap outta the bad guys whenever I'm in a really bad mood. [ 07-13-2004, 01:05 AM: Message edited by: spydar ]
