I have a mage that can cast 2nd level spells, but there are none in her book for me to memorize. All the scrolls I've written have been first level.

Where can I find some 2nd level spells for her to write to her book? (The mage is that Dynaheir chick).

Also, does it really matter if you switch out NPC's all the time? I'm goofing around til I get ready to go to the bandit camp and I still have Minsc, Dynaheir, and the 2 NPC's from the Friendly Arm Inn.

Oh...one more thing...

I talked to the guy at the Inn to find out the location of the Bandit Camp and it's not on the map. Does it show up once I get up that way? I coulda swore he told me where it was...*checks journal* Yeah, he did.

Ok I lied...one more thing: Ankheg's (sp?) suck and I don't like them

Go to the map west of Beregost and you'll find a place called 'High Hedge' - a mage lives there and he sells second level spell scrolls. Apart from that, you'll just have to look around and adventure a bit more. I wouldn't worry though, after the bandit camp, second level spells come in abundance.

It doesn't matter if you switch NPCs at all, you can do this a million times if you wish. I just prefer to stick with one party all the way through so that you really get a group feeling as well as giving everyone the chance to advance equally.

To get the map to come up on your screen, you have to pick up the scrolls the mage dropped when you killed him. If the map still doesn't come up, you've got some sort of bug and shouldn't be asking me

And yes, ankhegs do suck when you're weak, but soon they become a nice source of experience

Mmmmmmmmmmm......High Hedge. I will go there post haste.

I picked up his scrolls. Mebbe I'm just not in the right spot yet or something. :|

I don't really have a problem *killing* the Ankheg's, it's just they like to pick on the weakest person and kill her (the mage) and then I have to trek back and forth to the Friendly Arm Inn...which is tedious. Maybe I can find something decent in High Hedge for the mage. Her AC blows.

Thanks for the help!

Yes, hasten to the Hedge and goggle at the goods. Be sure to stock up on scrolls from the conjurer and enchanter schools, since Dynaheir the invoker can't memorize them.

Another way to get into the bandit camp is to allow yourself to be taken prisoner by the bandits in Peldvale.

On the ankheg map, I found it very useful to leave Dynaheir in somebody's house while the rest of my party did everything there. I don't know if this tactic will work with the major quest on that map, but it works for all those randomly spawning ankhegs.

Be sure to show the smithy in Beregost one of those ankheg heads. They weigh 100 lbs each, so enlist Minsc for some heavy-duty lifting.

I went to High Hedge and was immediately killed by a Flesh Gollum. :| *sniffle* I saw a couple of other scary looking guys around too :\ Soooooo....I will gain some more levels before I go back there.

I'm not keen about starting all over, so I will go be captured at Peldvale.

What else, what else...

Oh, I already took the ankheg shell and had some armor made. God I wasted so much time waiting for that to be made, heh. I like it better though...now Minsc doesn't lag behind the whole group for a mile :]

One weird thing...I went to one of those side areas around Nashkel. The whole time I was there, the info. window kept scrolling a fight with Drizzt and a Gnoll, but I never saw them anywhere. What was that all about?

Flesh Golems are best killed with magic weapons. They cannot be hit by normal weapons and they have a very high magic resistance.

If you have gone to Beregost, Feldepost's Inn, Second Floor and talked to Tranzig there, the camp should be on the map (another possibility is to go to Naskell and meet Elminster outside the smith's building). Hereafter you have to go to Peldvale and leave by the upper edge of the map.

And Drizzt - try to seach this forum with the word Drizzt, and you will probably get more answers than you need

I thought all golems were completely immune to spells.

Yes, the only way to damage flesh golems are by hitting them with magical weapons.

Once all your warrior types have magical weapons they are in fact not that difficult to damage. The main problem is that they hit so hard.

Flesh Golems attacked you because they thought you're an enemy or a thief. Enter with 1 char only and quickly go into the big room in the middle (don't fight the Golems). When you talk to the mage Thalantyr (you have to talk twice to him to trade), golems will become neutral (blue circle).

Drizzt is somewhere in the middle of that map (under a lake). The battle with Gnolls doesn't begin until you reach him and he talks to you asking for help. You can help him, but you'll see that he doesn't need any help at all.

... ...

If you have a Thief with a decent Stealth score, backstab the Flesh Golems to death. You will need to drink an Oil of Speed beforehand so that you can dart around quickly.

That was how my level 3 Thief took care of them.

I also thought so, but different posters claim that they had hit a golem with magic. It might be different in different patches though.
